Is escoting illegal in IF

Escorting is not illegal however keep in mind that some users (mainly on expert) may find it to be annoying.

and if ATC is present, you will need to communicate with the person you’re escorting to get the ‘flight of 2’ callsign and follow all instructions given to your partner as if it was yours, otherwise, you’re gonna have to take a trip to TS

It’s not “illegal” but breaking separation without all pilots in formation complying with the flight of xx rules is. If ATC is active or ATC Leadership /IF Mods see this while flying, they will likely report.

I think most of the time, escorts can be pretty annoying because 9/10 it’s trolls that don’t have etiquette.

It’s not illegal but I’m pretty sure I’m speaking for quite a lot of people when I say that random escorts aren’t really appreciated on the ES. I’d suggest going to the TS if you want to escort random people

Leadership /IF Mods see this while flying

Is this a common thing? I sometimes go up to visit my friends and sometimes they’re not online to change call signs. Is that not okay? Near ATC I understand but at cruise?

I sometimes do that with maintaining visual separation at reasonable speed to follow/escort a friend. There is nothing illegal in this! But unfortunately, in most cases when a fighter follows someone, they break separation rules, doing crazy speeds and flying through others! That’s kind of stuff I definitely report when I see happening in IF skies!

I’ll voice what people have said above, it’s not “illegal” if done correctly simple as that. Obviously assuming that the person you’re escorting is okay with it and is aware of this .
