Irl airport you knew from IF first?

Ever had that compulsion to visit an irl airport, when you found yourself in the general vicinity for the first time, because you knew it well from IF first? If so, what airport?

For me it was Aspen of all places. Pretty exciting I have to admit…the hills and massive private jet count. (how many IF approaches had I made to Aspen while having no notion of the irl airport…from the ground)

Jackson Hole @United403 summon

I didn’t really discover it from IF tho, I was scrolling through Miami Airports destination list and listed it as a seasonal service and decided to check it out in IF so you could say that I discovered it in IF.

For me it was definitely ICN. I’ve been to ICN before, don’t get me wrong, but I had like a 8-9 year gap of not visiting, so I kinda forgot. IF re-introduced me and I was actually able to predict the taxi patterns on my flights this year!

There was another one that was the other way around, KSGU. I went to St. George as a stop and saw a plane depart it, so I researched it a bunch. When I decided to fly out of it in IF, I was able to work well with it :)

This is a long one-

Olbia Airport is definitely an airport that I knew in IF for the simple reason that I was searching for an airport to do one of my spotting videos at for my YT channel. I had flown to the airport in IF and afterwards did some research on it to see if it got enough general traffic in IRL for me to replicate into a spotting video. Whilst doing the typical research I do for all of my spotting videos, I learned the about which airlines flew in there and on what aircraft. When I scheduled the video to be published publicly, I chose a Wednesday that I knew I would be gone during my European Cruise so that I would not have to deal with uploading videos while I was on vacation. I had no idea until I was actually on the cruise that one of our stops would be in Olbia and would coincidentally be on the same day that the spotting video I made of that airport would be published. On the day I visited Olbia, I was able to spot the traffic from my cruise balcony which was amazing because it was the very first time that I was able to spot at an airport that I had spotted in IF for YouTube.

For me it was NTAA (Tahiit Faaa Airport) never heard of Tahiti in my life, saw it randomly on the IF map, did a flight from LAX to PPT and was mesmerised by how beautiful it was, I said one day I will visit this place in real life.

4 years later I indeed visited the airport in real life, flying on the Air Tahiti Nui 789, the exact same registration as the one in IF, F-OVAA from NZAA - NTAA

One of those amazing coincidences! Same as with:

As for:

I’ve had that experience a few times as well. Most memorable example maybe was with Hong Kong. Most recent, as far as need to go back for a closer look, was/is Vancouver.

Caught my eye (never been there in IF either). First thing I see in a search is the crater lake. Anyway LPPD, new to me, and 3D, spectacular scenery in general. Thanks for the association!
