iPad crashing at busy airport

Hi everyone,

I just reached Grade 3 and was really excited to participate in IFWT2, but I’ve been having an issue. My iPad keeps crashing every time I try to complete a leg, especially when there’s heavy traffic during departure or near the approach. This has never happened to me before, and it’s really frustrating because I can’t seem to finish a full leg.

Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? I’d really appreciate any help!

Device: iPad Pro 9,7" (2016)
Operating system: iPadOS 15.5

Hey there! Welcome to the Community!

You have a very old device (nearly 9 years old now). What are your graphics/aircraft count set to?

I’m pretty sure that’s similar to my old iPad I had last year. The most important thing from my experience is to turn down the 3d object count or plane count (idk what it’s called right now).

I don’t think graphics are the issue unless you’re getting very low FPS too.

Try following this recommendation from this thread.

Then if you’re crashing, lower the setting in this order:

Yeah, I suspect my device might be getting a bit old for the game, but since I didn’t have any issues before, I wasn’t sure. I have all my graphics settings set to medium, and the aircraft count is on medium/high.

Hi,
Here are a few things you could do as an attempt to reduce lag and crashing:

•Lower aircraft count
•Lower the quality/resolution of the rendering and textures.
•Lower 3D object density
•Turn off anti-aliasing
•Maximum FPS to 30
•Close other apps in the background
•Maintain an optimal device temperature
-Bring your iPad to a colder room
-Take off the case
-Do not leave it on charge(unless absolutely required to)
•Turn off low power mode if battery lasts long enough

Following these steps, your iPad should see better performance in the future. If it is still experiencing crashes, it may just be due to the age and specs of the device itself.

Speaking from my own experience having an iPad 8th GEN I experience crashes sometimes. I recently got an iPhone 16 and I found that to be a much better device to run IF. At this point there really isn’t much you can do since its an old device and it’s severely limited. My best advice would it be getting a new iPad or run the risk of a crash.

Alright guys, I’ve tried all your tips and messed around with every possible setting, but nothing seems to work. I’m still crashing only when I’m on approach or departure at busy airports. I think my device is just way too old, I’m just gonna get a new iPad because I really loooove this game.

Anyway, thanks for all the help, this community is truly awesome!!!

2GB or RAM isn’t enough anymore.

See this: Installing on iOS | Infinite Flight

Replacing the device if possible would be the way to go.
You won’t regret it. :)

If you are looking to keep with an iPad, I would recommend the 2022 iPad (10th Gen) - it has 4GB RAM and you can find it for relatively cheap on a lot of sites.
