With unlimited tries (solo mode, short final), can you stop within the runway using the CRJ-200, landing runway 22 at KAVX, with a direct crosswind of:
40kts?
Do you believe it’s possible?

Depends on what you consider “within” the runway. I just did 99 knot direct cross with part of the aircraft touching the runway at all times but not the whole aircraft.
Wow, 99knts! That never occurred to me to push the slider all the way over. With 3 attempts so far I failed at that. But as far as:
I was kind of thinking a relatively straight rollout at the end, with always having all gear within the width of the runway from touchdown to stop.
Ah, well 99 knots won’t work for that because the only way to get it to stop is to just slide it directly into the wind as soon as you touchdown and go perpendicular down the runway.
I landed a c208 in 20 knot gusting crosswinds before, so I’m sure 40kts in a crj isn’t too hard
AVX’s runway is like barely wide enough to land a CRJ without wind is the problem (75 feet wide).
I was just trying the 208 in steady 20 kt crosswind.
I actually found that even more challenging. Dealing with the correction angle was fine, but I found I had to hurry and get the nose wheel down to avoid running out of rudder response as the airspeed drops, and I needed to work the rudder with far more finesse and care once the nose wheel was down to keep straight.
I felt like if I practiced a whole bunch more I might get a good one. But yeah, it’s probably false hope.
One thing is for sure, the crj is much more generous with available rudder response than the 208. (though I’ve never touched the control sensitivity adjusments)
Anyway, I was thinking if one practices a lot of tough crosswind challenges: somewhat beyond what you would experience in most situations, and just obsess to get it as good as possible with lots of focused repetition…
…it can’t help but improve your overall flying skill.
