InfiniteView Discord Client

Hi everyone! You may have noticed over the past week or so that our beta testers on Discord have had their flights displayed under their names. Well, today we’re excited to release the InfiniteView Discord Client to all of you!

This app, available for Linux, macOS, and Windows, allows you to connect your flight progress directly to Discord. It uses the InfiniteView API to sync all the data available on InfiniteView, continuously monitoring your flight and frequently updating your Discord activity. The current information displayed includes:

  • Aircraft type and livery
  • Route information with a dynamic progress bar
  • Current flying time
  • Status of your flight e.g. Landing or Cruising at FL310
  • Callsign and username (hovering over the large image)
  • Diversion detection (will display a red exclamation mark)

There are a few steps to get this to work, so here’s a detailed tutorial, which can also be found over on our Discord.

Tutorial

1. Ensure you have paired InfiniteView to Infinite Flight

To get started, make sure you’ve paired the device you use to access InfiniteView with your Infinite Flight account (click “Pair” on your selected flight’s user profile). You’ll then see a Discord Secret code at the bottom — you’ll need this to connect your flight!

2. Download the InfiniteView Discord Client

You can find the latest version of the app HERE . Make sure to download the correct version for your operating system: .rpm for Linux, .dmg for macOS, and .exe for Windows. You may see a warning that the app is from an unknown source, but you should be able to override this and proceed with the installation.

3. Find your flight and start tracking!

Find your flight on InfiniteView and copy the Discord Secret, it should be of the form XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX. Then, click Start Activity and it will connect to Discord automatically.

Any errors will show in the Log, and will provide quick fixes where applicable.

On release, this will only work for active flights on the Expert or Training servers. Casual server support will come in a future update.

This is still an early version of the pairing system, so there may be bugs. Do let us know, and we’ll be on it ASAP.

Will
on behalf of the InfiniteView Team!

Does this feature require a subscription or is it free?

At the moment it requires you to have access to the tracker to get the pairing code, so you would need a subscription when general access is closed. We are discussing potentially changing this, however.

macOS support is out!

We have now added the macOS app to our v1.0.0 release here (the .dmg file).

You will likely encounter an error that the app is corrupted, untrusted, or broken. This is due to the way Apple handles downloads for apps outside of the App Store.

This issue is fixed by navigating to Terminal once you have installed and setup the InfiniteView Discord Client, and typing:

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/InfiniteView-Discord-Client.app

which removes the flag set by Apple. The app should then open normally. This fix is based on this article.

Important update

There have been a few issues with the app getting stuck on the Starting flight tracking step. In most cases, this can be resolved by using the Discord desktop app instead of the web version, and by launching the app before opening Discord.

Busy Period? Haven’t got InfiniteView Pro? Not a problem!

We have released a webpage here: InfiniteView x Discord that allows you to obtain the Discord Secret without needing to use the tracker!

Further Discord integration with this page is coming soon — keep an eye out for some cool features! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
