InfiniteInfo: The iOS Flight Tracker (V1.2 Out Now)

Umm InfiniteInfo V1.2 is out now!

Finally, I’m happy to announce that the next version of InfiniteInfo is ready for release. This one has been long in the works, but it’s finally done!

This update focused on improving the quality of the app which means an upgraded user interface, better information, and of course some new features!

The New Interface

The old app interface was sub par to say the least. Improving it however, meant reworking the entire app (which takes a lot of work and time apparently).

This new interface was meant to help improve the organization of different parts of the app and improve aesthetics all around.

The Data

The data of the app should now be more reliable and more in sync with the Infinite Flight servers. For example, the old app sometimes struggled to keep ATC stations active or would sometimes have invalid takeoff times. This has now been improved upon, but it still isn’t perfect. (some of this can’t be fixed with flight resume being a thing… yet)

The New Features & Improvements

This update isn’t too heavy on the new features as I want to make sure that new ones aren’t rushed into the app; quality over quantity.

  1. Inbound and outbound flight filtering: You can now filter flights to a specific airport and highlight them on the map to get a better visualization of the incoming or outgoing traffic.

  2. Focused users reworked: The old app only allowed for one focused user at a time, which wasn’t all too great. The new version now allows for up to 10 users to be saved in settings and marked as focused. (You can also customize the color on the map!)

  3. ATC boxes: These will be displayed over airports with active ATC and allow you to know at a glance what ATC stations are opened all around the globe.

  4. More airport information: Since the airport UI was reworked it also allowed for some new information to make its way into the app. Airports can now display if they are 3D, have jet bridges, have safe docks, and have taxiway routing.

  5. New FPL information page: You can now see the flight plan which a flight has filed with the Infinite Flight servers and fly to each point on the map. It displays VNAV defined altitudes as well as distances between legs.

  6. Show lots of airports on the map: Airports with at least one inbound or outbound can be displayed on the map along with ATC airports.

  7. Airport searching (sort of): You can search through all the airports with at least on inbound or outbound. Hopefully this can be expanded to allow searching of any airport in the future

  8. New icons for the base app… Yay!

  9. Inbounds & outbounds can now be listed regardless of subscription status

  10. And some small other stuff

TLDR; Some New Stuff:

If you read this far there should also be a 2 week free trial for InfoPlus and there is now an Instagram which you can follow for updates and cool stuff!

Ok, well thats all I have got for now. Ill be back with another update with some even cooler stuff all in due time. (Make sure and leave a rating too!)

Slight problem though @Ethan_C - loading into the app on my phone (iPhone 11 - before and after the update to V1.2 - I’m getting a loading error).

It works fine on my iPad so might be worth looking into that.

Sorry about that! I did a server update that seems to have broken a few apps. Try a fresh install and that should do the trick! (Let me know if that doesn’t work)

Hi @Ethan_C - great app. One question - any idea why the callsign from my previous flight always shows as my active callsign? Example attached - actual callsign is Cathay 603…

Cheers!

I don’t check for updated call signs during the course of the flight; it is static for the flight. I am hoping to change this behavior as that code is old and I want to redo it better.

My app is not working, keeps saying “Error, Could not load sessions.” Been doing this for several days now. Even tried reinstalling the app and got the same results.
