Hello. A lot of times, when I am at cruise (mainly with Airbus aircraft) and I have autopilot on and thrust set to a certain mach, the throttle will randomly increase and decrease very rapidly. I have a screen recording but it isn’t able to be attached. I can send it on discord.
This is related to the fine-tuning of the autopilot tolerances. When a sudden wind change happens (e.g. you go from a 20kt headwind to a 10kt headwind within a second), your airspeed will naturally drop, and the way the tolerances are set up will make the thrust shoot up rapidly in order to compensate for the error margin as quickly as possible. You’ll also find that this happens in gusty conditions as well, when the wind gusts are sudden and the autopilot aims to maintain the target speed as closely as possible.
Nothing that you can change on your end, no. It’d require fine-tuning on the developer end, and potentially more advanced autopilot functionality to detect when it’s safe to bring the thrust up slower, and when immediate and more abrupt inputs are needed.
