Incorrect data import

Hi!
I don’t know if it’s a bug or how it should be, but when importing data from Simbrief I noticed some error in reading cargo information. The thing is that the “Bags” and “Cargo” parameters do not correspond to reality. Simbrief writes baggage to cargo, and the simulator interprets baggage and cargo as 2 different values.

Is it how it should be or can it be adjusted somehow?

According to Simbrief logic, if I specify the weight of the baggage in the aircraft settings, it will calculate the model weight of the bag, add it to the passenger weight and will not rely on the cargo. The simulator adds both the weight of one bag from the Simbrief parameters and the cargo that is designed for the aircraft!

Moreover, if you exclude the “Baggage Weight” parameter in Simbrief, then there will be no cargo either, everything is replaced by 0. Is this an error on the part of the planner or an error reading information in the simulator?

I have experienced a similar issue

Simbrief parameters (before importing to IF)
Passengers: 350
Cargo: 8732kg

IF parameters (after importing to IF):
Passengers: 361
Cargo: 17464kg

I tried reloading the Simbrief plan in IF and same issue

I think the extra “passengers” are crew. Considering that 361 is 11 more people from 350, that’s around the average amount of crew on a wide body aircraft like a 777-200 or something.

From a sim brief explanation video I saw some time ago, I believe they calculate the baggage weight (eg. 20kg x 100 passengers: 2000kg) and adds it to the cargo weight (5000kg cargo + 2000kg bag = 7000kg total)

Additionally, if you did not specify baggage weight, it will show up as zero unless you also specify how much freight you are carrying besides baggage

Am I right in understanding that you can simply set the baggage weight to 0 and enter the cargo parameter manually when planning? But even though you can fly with pleasure then, the point of automatic flight planning in Simbrief is lost, where you simply edit the aircraft profile and the planner does the rest for you.

It’s noted in the guide so I assume it’s been marked somewhere as an issue

I haven’t seen this guide, it’s great that it appeared because this tutorial answers my questions!

Each to their own, but I’d suggest simply using the SimBrief OFP values for PAX and Payload weights.

SimBrief gives its own definition of passenger weights, and the payload total is the weight of all the passengers added to the ‘cargo’ (bags, bins or whatever).

Set the number of passengers in IF, subtract that from the total payload weight and you have your cargo total.
