As you’ve probably already seen, we’ve been ramping up our real-world content for you all to enjoy. @jasonrosewell & I recently embarked on a little side quest to Norway to shoot some videos with Norwegian Air Shuttle for our YouTube channel, those being a BTS look into their hangar and HQ, and a flight on one of their MAX aircraft.
Our hangar & HQ video has been live for a few days now, and we’ve just published the flight deck one… Give it a watch!
Side note: the livery in the video is the exact same one that we will feature on our 737 MAX in the sim when we release it 😜
Nice video! Also I learnt something. There is indeed a light on the winglet. This is very obvious on the NG but I could never see one on the MAX so I thought they didn’t have one.
I had fun watching the video, especially the visual left base turn to final in Tromso. @Dan 's shocking face got me laughing! It was also a great way to learn more about the cockpit, and avionics for the future 737 max we’re getting. 😉
Very cool video! If you’re allowed to share, how were you able to get this opportunity to be up in the flight deck during the flight? Did you and Dan have to go through a special security screening or something?
Great question! It took a lot of organizing to make sure we were talking to the right people at the company and to make sure crews were available that were willing to participate. We were already going to be in Europe for other reasons so we were fortunate that the dates worked out.
On the day, we cleared through regular security screening with all of the other pax. At the gate when the crew showed up we boarded with them. Boarding group zero! We just tried our best to stay out of their way when filming which can be tricky in such tight spaces. We had escorts (the pilots) on the ramp for the walkaround.
For the other video we cleared security where the airside crew does in a special building. We weren’t allowed to film that bit though.
It was a fantastic video really enjoyed it 🤩 what a fabulous approach also Dans smile when the pilot begin to push the take off thrust 😁 definitely will do the same flight in the sim to. Fantastic vid 🎥
After months of planning and lots of back and forth in post production, this is music to our ears. We’re looking forward to sharing some more cool content with you very soon…
I especially liked the avionics engineer on the systems detail, and frankness on things like gps reliability. Lucky getting to see the avionics bay and all its pieces. He sure was hyper fluent with all the systems switches!
Also fascinating were the operations people (check out the European airspace restrictions map!). The coordination necessary to run an airline is really something to see from that perspective.
