In-Flight Operations: Public Beta (iOS)

#244

Did some T&G. Autos tart and stop is great.

Looks like it’s counting the air Tim only from first takeoff to first landing and the rest as Taxi to parking time.

4 T&G GRADE CONTINGENCY

#245

Yeah. I’m waiting for a “Pattern Mode” as well.
It’s on the list of features that epaga will look at later.

#246

I have a few things to report from my flight from a London to Bangkok. Firstly, the in air time in the app is not matched with the in air time in IF, as you can see. Also, I used LiveFlight connect once again to compare landing rates, and IF-O’s landing rate is significantly better than my LiveFlight readings. It might have just been my internet, though. Hope this helps. It also didn’t get my departure runway, which was 9L at EGLL.

#247

Hmmm. I’d trust the IF-O maybe more than the network connection. Weird. I’ve been trying to pay close attention to good/bad landings-it’s been accurate so far except for the “perfect landing” 0 FPM

#248

I’ve encountered a couple of things.

After takeoff I decided to go to LFPG.
I only set a waypoint just before runway 27R, so I flew in one straight line.

Somehow the app thinks all the fuel used until that waypoint was for taxiing.

Also LANDING V/S -41 FT/M was reported, while actually it was way more than that.

#249

I would definitely for the flight time, at least. Those times are almost certainly the moments you took off and landed. I just assume there were network interruptions in between which doesn’t count toward your flight time score (since it’d be too easy to cheat then).

Yes, the V/S is definitely too “generous”. Beta 14 should be more accurate, I think.

very weird, please see if you can reproduce this somehow.

Beta 14 will include yet ANOTHER improvement for runway detection (it’s trickier than it sounds :).

#250

Awwww… Don’t tell us that @epaga we all thought we were having good landings 🤣

#251

@epaga I have not had any problems with IFO yet! I love it! Thanks so much for the awesome Third-Party Apps, they make my IF experience much better!

#252

I had a butter, finally… until now 😢

#253

@Mika
This is butter, and butter bread.

Butter is a dairy product. It comes from cows.
Butter bread, is either bread made heavily with butter, ButterED bread means a slice of bread with butter on it.

None of the above terms have anything to do with aviation. This butter phenomenon is a wholly IFC thing that has gotten utterly out of control. (If you don’t beleive me, ask @DeerCrusher I’m sure he will gladly verify this for you. Alternatively, you can see his post HERE: meaning for "butter" )

The proper real world aviation terms are as follows:

Grease Job
or
Greased the landing
or
Greaser
Alternatively/in a sentence “WOW! That was a greaser and a half of a landing you had Mika

You had “greased” landings til now.

#254

Very well put

#255

I had a very nice and smooth landing :)

#256

That would be a “grease job” Mika.

See this piece from Plane and Pilot with some tips that are indeed helpful in IF (particularly the speed and deck angle-stay on speed, hold your angles and it’ll all come together!)

Also, see this google search result:

You’ll notice plenty of real world aviation stuff-videos/articles etc.
https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&hl=en-us&q=What+is+a+greased+landing%3F&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjZ5eCYpuPfAhXHmeAKHa3CDgEQzmd6BAgQEAo&biw=414&bih=832

If you search for the butter term, you’ll only find IFC and simulator pilots that don’t know the real term.

#257

Go get beta 14! :)

#258

Sorry sir🤣

#259

No need to apologize lol-just trying to get the facts of it out to one user at a time 😉

#ProperAvgeek

Will report on 14 shortly

IFATC RADAR TRAINING

Worked perfectly during a radar training session in the hog.

Maybe you could have an default save option and it would automatically copy to clipboard/save to camera roll, as I nearly forgot to save it. But without that it’s a great addition.

#261

Took Build 15 for a test flight soon as I got home.

Did a quick one JFK-LGA (very very windy!)
I flew the Xway visual 31 so my LOC/GS will def be off quite a bit.

Results look good (first looked at them here)
Runways correct, fuel correct, times correct. Almost there I think @epaga
Respectable landing in that wind I would think. Was a hell of a fight on final!

#262

Yet again a very nice flight just one problem, I rotated at 149 kts not 158 or whatever it was. Other than that very accurate!

#263

Worked alright today. It stopped and started without issue. I will try again tomorrow with the TBM to a smaller airport.
