In flight navigation

How do planes navigate themselves in the air…I know they have radar to see other planes but how do they tell each other to move over if they’re on the same track? If your gonna change your route to avoid other planes, do you have to contact atc?

Usually, on the Advanced Server, you connect to Approach or Center, request radar vectors to the airport you are heading to, and the ATC will give you vectoring instructions to help keep you separated from other aircraft, and make sure you have a safe landing by leading you into the airspace at a certain altitude, heading, and speed. :)

Thanks @FlyFi
Is that the same in real life?

Of course! After all, Infinite Flight is the most realistic mobile flight simulator out there. ;)

@Harry_Shaw In real life, planes navigate with a GPS, using VOR’s, or by an FMC. An FMC is only on the big commercial jetliners and corporate jets and is like a GPS except with more info which includes speeds, suggested cruise altitude, weight, etc. Hope this helps.
