Why is my aircraft always overweight? I can’t tune the ILS because of this, and it was almost a disaster at JFK with practically 0 visibility trying to land in manual. This only happened after this new update, I use the weight and fuel from simbrief
It’s likely you’re overloading fuel. A good way to prevent this from happening is using a system like SimBrief, which gives you loads that are sufficient for the flight and will leave you with adequate gas for go arounds and a diversion, but shouldn’t get you to your destination over the MLW.
The OP mentioned importing fuel and weight calculations from SIMBRIEF. It meant to be accurate.
I think it’s more to do with the bug in terms of calculating fuel when using Autopilot+. There are reports of this since the 25.1 release.
Did you use Autopilot+ by any chance on this route?
That may be the reason and until next hotfix comes round to address those issues. So my recommendation is not to use the Autopilot+ until this is rectified.
You’ve gotta be pretty heavy to make your flight, and still be above the MLW. Watch how much weight you are loading on your aircraft. If you are making a short or medium haul, there is no need to load the aircraft to full fuel. My suggestion? Depends on if you are flying long, medium, or short haul. Aircraft like the 747, are known to guzzle fuel like @AndrewWu guzzles a gallon of ranch dressing. I recommend flying the aircraft once, get a feel for how it flies, and how it burns fuel, so you’ll get a good idea of how to operate it.
I suspect it’s the same issue here you are facing.
So either lower the fuel amount as suggested in SIMBRIEF slighly or don’t use Autopilot+ until it’s rectified.
This already happened with my recent long hauls it’s got something to do with the AP+ I import my flight plan from simbrief but when I start to descend I’m always above the MLW so I dump fuel beforehand just so I can tune to the ils.
I mean you can dump fuel or make some pattern work to burn more fuel
Landing without ils is a pain but I’ve been flying to airports that I’m through with the procedures. Low visibility is challenging but you can use landing aids to align yourself on short final. You can dump fuel if you are overweight too while doing some holding patterns above FL100.
To be clear, this is not a bug, it was intentional and by design. Since running out of fuel while using AP+ cancels your flight and you cannot resume it, the devs wanted to prevent that from possibly happening, as well as the fact that if you leave with a strong headwind, your plane will fly as if it has that strong headwind then entire time, meaning it maintenance take more fuel than you thought you needed. So, if you are like me and you like to always have a little extra reserve fuel, cut that off when using AP+ for a flight, and maybe cut off a bit extra, since the fuel flow is conservative.
Yes as illustrated in my earlier post spot on.
