Use a paper and pencil to draw the scenarios if you’re talking about the written version. If you’re talking about the practical ask your trainer and review the #tutorials.

Here I made a guide for you guys to know exactly what will be on the written and practical.

It’s a little easier to follow then the YouTube channel.

In addition to the advice they have already told you, read the questions and answers several times, do not rush, even the simplest ones could fool you, good luck!

Learn to count to 5 carefully.

Don’t rush, stay calm, if you don’t know the answers either come back to it or simply Google the answer :) (Just kidding about the last one)

The only tip I can tell you is this: → Keep Calm <–. This is the most important, you can know all but if you are nervous you can make some mistakes! ;)

Hope you pass the exam! Good luck!

I just took the written test last week and all of the advice is helpful. Definitely take your time and do use a pencil and paper as things can be difficult to map out in your head alone. I remember on some college exams rushing through them and then checking answers only to realize that I had made silly mistakes.

Check your answers - there are occasionally mistakes, you might be able to get that one mark. Even if you don’t get that mark - you’ll be improving for next time.

Many people said that don’t rush it and use a pencil and paper but I just rush it (I use almost the same time you did but I went to the toilet during the test) and didn’t use anything to help at all, but still I got 100%. You can try this as it can reduce pressure which in turns reduce mistakes! Just to remind you that it won’t work for anyone, find your own way in doing exams.

This is exactly what happened to me. When I checked my answers after the test I discovered I would have easily passed had I just counted up to 5 correctly…see my post above. Still kicking myself over it. I’m due to take it again this week. Pencil and paper does help…and it’s worth investing the extra 10 seconds to ensure you got the answer correct.

My advice to everyone on this thread, as well as anyone taking the test soon, is to use your time.

Time is not a weakness. It is fortitude and resilience. The people who show off their 100% marks in three minutes are more likely to crash and burn on the practical by being too jumpy- I’ve seen plenty of those. Yes, there are exceptions (including intensive studying beforehand, experience, etc), but in general, it tends to happen.

A lot of people think racking up a high score in a short time gives them access to the “cool club” or shows off their skills- that is not the case. Sure, blitz through your A levels or AP exams at the expense of looking suave and making your peers nervous, but it can cost you that class you could’ve tested out of, missed by one mark you overlooked.

11:59, a paper is due. It’ll be due then. Doesn’t matter how fast you finish it- still due then. Same case with the written test for IFATC. A lot of the greats, whether it be one of our controllers or scientists, are defined by how they utilize their time. It’s not a race.

You have the time given to answer the questions. Use it.
