IFATC Companion App

Just a quick update on the next release (coming soon). In addition to the above features and enhancements, I’ve added background chatter as well as a live activity notification (will require the chatter for keep alive). Since this is a more persistent feature, and does come with some battery drain, it is off by default. So if you would like to try it out, enable it in settings after the update. It will also keep your ATC calls coming through even if the screen is off so you don’t miss anything.

I’m very happy with this app. The thing I like the most is that when you land it assigns you a gate or a stand and also assigns you the taxiway to follow. Beautiful. Only every now and then this function is blocked. I hope you continue to add news in the next updates of this application

Thanks for the feedback. I just released a new version where you can now save your ATC sessions and have multiple sessions. This will help when using AP+ or the new IF Live when you want to come back to a flight later or have multiple flights and want to pick back up with the ATC where you left off.

Unfortunately after the last update I have to bring to your attention a bug. Both for the taxi at the start and at the landing there is no longer the beautiful mode that assigns me a gate or stand and also assigns me the taxiway to take. In addition, the additional screen no longer appears. I really liked this function it seemed really useful and realistic (App download Apple )

The arrival and departure gate were always manual. It just used a generic gate if you don’t type one in. It may have coincidentally worked with the airport you were at. If the gate actually doesn’t exist at the airport and/or is missing from the openstreetmaps data, it won’t be able to find a route. What airport and gate were you using?

I used LICJ and I noticed that it didn’t assign me any gates. I thought the reason was because LICJ is not a 3D airport. Then on the way back to the airport LIRN didn’t even assign me any gate or stand while it had previously done. However, it would be nice if at least for 3D airports there was this function. For me, this feature was the reason why I fell in love with your app! And as a further and future update I would also add the check-in for each handover that is made when we enter the control area areas

I can give an option for auto assigned gates based on the available gates from OSM however, i don’t have operator information, for example I don’t know what airline operates at each gate. So it would just assign you a random gate. I can set it to randomly assign the gates if no manual gate information is available.

For the handoffs, do you mean handoffs between sectors for Center?

Yes exactly I mean that.

Instead, as far as the assignment of the gate/stand and taxiway is concerned, you could do it like this. I also really like the fact that you can request the re-calculation of the taxiway. Anyway now I just made a landing in LKPR and all this came out again :grinning_face:

One thing to note, if it’s the first time you are landing at an airport, it takes a min for the airport to download to get proper taxi instructions. Also, not all airport data are the same quality from OSM. So it also depends on the airport.

This app honestly looks incredible! The idea is just amazing.
Any future plans for Android? PLEASE SAY YES

Possibly. I’m all iOS with my devices so I’d need to purchase an android for testing and set everything up for the android store dev. I’ll look into it and maybe invest some of the iOS revenue into the android version. I’ll keep you posted here.

Hi, I like your app so much, that I can think of more ideas to improve it. Obviously I suggest and propose. I would like an integration with Simbrief in the future so as to have more simulation phases especially during the descent and the approach.

If you create a connection with simbrief or navigraph you could easily receive taxiway and stand or gate information so as to assign them to you well. And also it could copy from simbrief then from the flight plan or from the navigraph cards all the altitudes speed limits etc when we take off or approach an airport

Next update should be out shortly with the below new features.

  • Added global sectors for Center including handoffs between sectors.
  • Option to auto assign gate (turn on in settings). Will use gate size and operator data when available. Not much data in OSM so many arrival gates will be random. Departure gate is selected based on aircraft location.

On the Simbrief request, I have a link to Simbrief already in the app and the entire flight plan is loaded from Infinite Flight. What more were you thinking around that? You said more arrival logic? Like altitude/ turn calls?

Wow this app seems amazing I’ll def give it a try asap

@William_Hahn Bruh there’s no way to access the main features for free?

Correct, the free portion is really just to test to see if you’d like it but it’s just a mock mode and does not have the API connection to IF.

Aww man, I was hoping there would be a free version where I could use basic features in live

Yes, exactly. I was thinking that by improving the connection with simbrief, when we make the descent and the approach to an airport the APP could keep in mind the altitude limits present in the various waypoints during the approach so that centre or approach could authorise us at different altitudes and also to authorise us to the speed limits to be respected

Ok, turn by turn usually isn’t until after the STAR but once reaching the approach group of fixes in the flight plan I could add turn by turn directions with altitude and speed as well as 250 below 10,000. I’m almost done with the Android version and then I’ll look into this.
