IFATC Application to Written Test Success: My Journey, Response Time, and Tips for Recruits✈️

My IFATC Written Test Journey✈️

I’d like to share my experience with the IFATC written test, hoping it might help or motivate newcomers.:heart_hands:t2:

On my first attempt, I underestimated the test a bit. I had only studied for 2–3 days and spent about 5–6 days controlling on the training server. I thought that would be enough. I did read through the full ATC manual and given multiple Practical test, but still, when I took the test, I scored 64%.

After that, I joined the ATC Mentorship Hub Discord server and got connected with a mentor named @aatogamer — an incredible mentor :innocent: who guided me through every little detail. When I told him about my 64%, he offered to help me prepare. We did 3–4 sessions together, focusing on both single and parallel runway operations.

This time, I didn’t leave anything out. I covered every small detail that could be asked on the test. When I attempted the exam again, I scored 88%. Honestly, if I hadn’t panicked on one of the questions, I might’ve gotten 92%.

Now, I’ve officially passed the written test and am preparing for the practical!

Key advice:

  • Don’t underestimate the written test — it’s not as easy as it might seem.

  • Make sure to study every concept thoroughly.

  • Do multiple practice tests, and aim to score 100% at least 4–5 times in a row (also advised by my mentor) before attempting the real one.

If you’re dedicated and put in the effort, you’ll absolutely be able to pass. Good luck to everyone on their IFATC journey!

Special thanks to my recruiter @Othman_Asli 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼
