Hey everyone. Yesterday, I was doing a flight in a C208 over the grand canyon with a relative that used to be a pilot. He was teaching me a bunch of things, and he noticed how rapidly the fpm was changing. My Joystick was barely moving, yet we were descending -200 fpm. I have my sensitivity set to the lowest setting. Is there any way I can make it lower? Thanks!
(not sure if this should be in support?)
This is the main reason why I always use A/P for VS. It’s way too sensitive compared to how it is in real life. I don’t even use a joystick…
Same. I’ve tried not and it just drops or climbs way to fast.
He didn’t want me to use autopilot.
One of the most important things in flight is to learn to fly by hand. (is what he said)
Yes I agree, I’m just saying it’s too sensitive in the sim then how it is in real life which is what causes the abrupt movements over slight changes.
I agree. Oh well, i see there is nothing i can do.
MaxSez: “Fly By Hand” not wire is an AvSafety Gripe that has been cussed and discussed in every AvSafety Forum, Seminar and Annual Summery for years. Dependence on computers and systems have diminished the skill sets every aviator must perfect and conscious of. Long Haulers particularly
must brake there dependence on automation. Practice makes perfect, hands off that AP except for cruise in favorable conditions. Practice makes perfect.
