IF on the iPad 2017

All good mate, I guess the Air 2 does have a better screen! Also it’s considerably thinner and lighter.

I did hold both side by side and my wife has an Air 2 - to me there is no practical difference between the two devices from a thickness and screen quality. The Air 2 does have an additional anti-glare coating but the new iPad has an extremely bright screen which makes up for it. I also compared the New iPad with the iPad Pro… and ended up getting the new iPad due to cost/benefit.

Also as a battery data point, 1 hour of ATC and another 30 minutes of flying with every setting maxed out (except the fps - that one I leave the limiter turned on) consumes only 8% of battery.

I am not arguing one way or the other, just sharing my experience and decision process - iPad Air 2, New iPad, iPad Pro - you can’t really go wrong.

other than a tiny bit better chip and processor, iPad air 2 is slimmer, sleeker, lighter, laminated and anti reflective.

What is the point of this topic? If it’s trying to be a disguised “what iPad runs IF best” topic, I will literally break something and flag this post.

Anyway, haven’t used it but seems to be on par with the iPhone 6s (same processor and co-processor), but still not as good as the iPad Pro.

Don’t buy the new Ipad its not worth it. Your better off getting the Ipad pro. I would wait till september when Apple unveils new phones and Ipads. Trust me you will thank yourself for waiting.

It has an A9 chip, not quite as good as the A9X, but you should still be able to run IF with max. settings smoothly

I believe @DavidCutler has the 2017 IPad.

Yes I do. Very well worth the price if you ask me. So far everything has been running smoothly. :)

As also having a fair bit of Apple knowledge here is what I would tell you. The iPad, has the A9 chip, and the Air2 has a A8x chip. The “x” should help with graphics, but as because IOS apps are strictly regulated the difference will never be noticeable in IF. Outside of the game is where the regular iPad might have the edge in just day to day tasks. It also has an older heavier chassis. If you only care about this game then the Air2 is best. However the more well rounded and Apples only option for you would seem to be the “regular” iPad.

Same chip as iPhoen 6s and se so it should be good

The iPad Air 2 has the A8x chip, whilst the gen 5 iPad has the A9.

To be honest, there isn’t much of a difference between the chips. However, the gen 5 doesn’t have a laminated display, and there is a larger air gap between the display and the screen, so it doesn’t look as good.
