The Air 2 is almost eight years old, so it’s bound to suffer a app crashes and some lag. To minimize the risk of the former, you should lower the strain on your device.
On the iOS side, this includes closing all background apps, lowering your brightness, and enabling Low Power Mode. On the Infinite Flight side, this includes enabling automatic low power mode and selecting “Low” for all graphics. Of course, this won’t provide you with the most seamless experience, but it will significantly reduce the chances of you being unable to complete a flight.

Just to add on something here, despite everything Zach said being correct.
What’s your airplane count? If it only happens at airports with more than 5 people, setting the airplane count to “None” would be helpful too.

I use the Air2 and mine doesn’t crash. I have done some ultra long haul with the device. I have flown OMDB to YSSY, yesterday I did SBGR to EGLL with no problem at all. Amazing for such an old device. There are things you need to check in addition to advise others gave here. Check your device storage. I make sure I have at least 5GB free at any time. If you can afford to get a new device…Good, but if not…then you can still use it. Feel to ask me any questions about this.
