I believe, even if this becomes a thing, pilots will at the end would like to takeoff manually just like they do with landings right now, only using Autoland in marginal conditions.
No pilot want’s to miss the best part of the flight 😂
It will be interesting to see the extent to which irl pilots learn to trust and accept a very marginal takeoff scenario to automation. That’s the hurdle maybe, before IF has to deal with it becoming widespread enough to become a “must have feature.”
What if a virtual airline decides they want to expect actual automatic takeoff procedures at London City, for example? I know that’s stretching the example perhaps, but it will be interesting to see if this becomes a growing trend (no more tail strikes etc.) or remains useful only in limited situations.
But what if the airline makes it a requirement for a specific airport such as London City?
I agree with that. And that was seen with pilots on early space flights wanting to maintain some kind of “stick and rudder” control. But with modern space flight, automation has really taken over from that direct manual control to a great degree. Where will this go with aviation? Hopefully not a cockpit without humans:(
I’m a bit of an AI sceptic I guess, when it comes to that “all in” with automation viewpoint.
