I tried RFS…

Hey IFC!
The other day I was bored and decided to re-download RFS. I used to play it ALL THE TIME though that was around 7 years ago. It was kind of cool seeing what differences they had with eachother.

First looks
I very quickly learned that RFS has more features and less quality whereas IF is the opposite. There was an insane amount of planes (they even had the C-5). I spawned in in a Jetstar A320-200 and had a bit of a play. I discovered that RFS now not only had walk-around mode, but has a security car that you can drive around!

Takeoff/ copilot callouts
I eventually taxiied to the runway (which is somehow difficult) and went TOGA. It had pretty good A320 sounds but what made me the most impressed was that eventually, I heard the co-pilot say “80kts”, “V1”, “Rotate”, “Positive rate”. It made me quite impressed.

Chat
Now, I think everyone knows that RFS chat can be quite “interesting”. The first time I opened it, I was greeted with a 9/11 joke. It was very clear the chat was filled with 9 year olds who couldn’t fly a plane; “How to turn on plane” “How engine on” “Mayday Mayday Mayday, Caseoh is on plane”. Another time, I decided to join the chat, I said a polite “hello” and asked what their opinion on IF was (as you do) and was immediately roasted 13 consecutive times with the same joke, from the same user.

Ground equipment
I’m not going to lie, RFS has quite some good ground equipment. IF only has Cargo, PAX, GPU and catering. RFS on the other hand has those, plus a Fuel truck, emergency equipment, and more. However, all of the ground equipment in RFS is very VERY poor quality.

Weather
Where do I start, RFS has quite impressive rain animations. You turn on rain and you practically get individual rain drops on the windshield. When you go into the outside view, the rain is found sliding from the top of the aircraft to the bottom. (It’s hard to explain but it’s cool). They DO have snow however I am yet to try it out. I also believe you have to pay for pro to have volumetric clouds…

Aircraft and Liveries
All of you have guessed and most likely know, RFS has very poor quality aircraft and cockpits. However, I was quite surprised that RFS had the green cross that appears on the PFD, I think it’s called the Flight Director. It sounds pretty good but I think it’s broken, I was on a perfect approach, 2 white, 2 red and it told me that I was WAY to high…
About liveries, RFS lets you create your own and submit it! However, you get things such as the infamous Ryanair A380/ AN-225.

Physics
RFS has absolute TERRIBLE physics. For example, whenever me or @Cwaker tried to land, you would flare and go 0% throttle at about 50ft and the aircraft would SLAM into the ground, bounce, and then still with 0% throttle, it would take off again towards whatever way you were pitching.

Overall
Overall, it’s quite obvious that RFS has way more features than IF however IF has way better quality. IF also has a way better community <3. I will maybe play RFS every now- and then but will NEVER even consider switching to RFS as my main.

Thanks for reading!

Here’s another thing, they added a Malaysian Air Force livery to the “Real” section of the Concorde liveries…

If this is/ was a real livery, I am very sorry

Along with awful physics, boring sound effects, and the various poorly designed airline liveries, this is among the reason why I dislike RFS. I recall someone spamming something forbidden in chat that I don’t even want to remember what it was about.

Recently, I tried Aerofly FS for the first time and I was genuinely impressed with the graphics and sound effects (Especially the newly added Airbus A350-1000). It was some next level realism that nearly matches with MFS2024.
The only downside is that there is no multiplayer and I wish there was a free camera mode.
Here’s a screenshot I’ve taken. (No, this image is not edited.)

To stay related to Infinite Flight, although IF’s graphics aren’t that superior compared to other mobile flight simulators out there, it has great physics, great controls and mostly, the lovable community. I have to agree that everyone and the staff are very friendly and this is mainly why I pay for my subscription.

With the upcoming Project Metal update and the A320/A321neo series, I’m sure Infinite Flight will one day evolve to something like MFS2024! (:

This is cool, but I don’t think it has very much to do with Infinite Flight… See here for the guide lines on the General category

You could switch to Meta

Doesn’t fit the meta category either.

“This category is for topics relating to the workings of the forum itself.”

I might have to try that next! How many/ what free planes do you get without any subscription?

@alexev @Petre2026 @Jger , what category does it fit under? In my opinion it is somewhat related to IF as it’s comparing the two. It doesn’t fit under ThirdParty either as it has to be about something for/ about IF, such as InfiniteView

General is the most reasonable but I don’t know if it belongs at all.

If a mod or someone asks me to put it in something else, do I just take it down?

I would say just leave it in general unless a mod moves it or closes it.

I think it was 8 planes.

Normally, a moderator will simply close it or move it to some other category.
