Good evening folks, I just want to share to you guys of what I’ve done terribly wrong. I was flying from St. Kitts to Miami on American Airlines Flight 3084 on the Airbus A321. As I was landing on RWY 30 at MIA, I didn’t see the next taxiway for me to vacate the runway as I have braked suddenly and almost taxied onto the grass at over 50 kts which is a violation. I would’ve gotten a violation for taxing over the grass at 50 kts. And now I messed this up so bad that I’m so terrible at this. I have made the worst mistake ever in my life. I cannot believe that I would ever make this kind of mistake. The same thing happened in STL as I was heading to Miami on American Airlines Flight 2981 on the Boeing 737 MAX 8 as I wanted to taxi adjacent to RWY 12R for takeoff and I almost taxied onto the grass as I was about to turn next taxiway. Seems like that I’m not used to flying at night anymore since I can’t see things clearly anymore. I just suck at flying night. I used to do it well, but now I’m terrible. I’m just the worst Infinite Flight pilot ever. I just want to quit this game. I’m just a terrible pilot especially on expert server. If I’m gonna keep making more mistakes like this, I will quit this game for good. I can’t keep on making these mistakes like this. It pisses me off. If I want to enjoy the flight, why make so many mistakes, and cause me to become a terrible pilot. That’s not fair. And god forbid MIA was active and I did that, I would’ve been reported and you know what, I will quit the game. I’m terrible at this game. Even though I see taxiway lights at night, I still mess up on which taxiway I go to. I can’t be messing up like this. Here is evidence of this.
I’ve done this so well on these virtual trips from St. Louis to Los Angeles, Honolulu, Anchorage, Atlanta and Miami and now going to St. Kitts from St. Louis via Miami that I ever mess up on that STL departure and then from St. Kitts to Dubrovnik via Miami that I messed up on the MIA landing.
Man, don’t think like that! There. Are many pilots that are worse than you. Mistakes are frustrating, but we learn from them. I’ve crashed on takeoff in various planes numerous times, but what’s the difference? You’re good at this game. Night flying isn’t the most important part. Don’t quit!
I don’t know what I’m going to do now and how I’m gonna fly better the next flight. The next flight, I’m heading to Frankfurt on Lufthansa Flight 463 B747-8 aircraft and I’m afraid that I’m gonna make that same mistake again. And if that happens, I’m quitting. I can’t be doing flights and making mistakes like this, it’s making me feel bad
Respectfully, I think you need to relax and take it easy on yourself. Mistakes happen. At the end of the day, this is a game and not real life. Nobody died. You’re going to be ok and you’ll do better next time.
Blue arrow = Where I braked suddenly when I was above 80 kts and almost taxied onto the grass above 35 kts which is against the rules
Yellow arrow = Where I corrected that mistake and took the taxiway to vacate RWY 30
I should’ve continued applying the thrust reversers until I’ve reached 60 kts and then take that taxiway as mentioned with the yellow arrow to exit RWY 30 instead of attempting to use that taxiway with the blue arrow because I was over 80 kts and braking suddenly like that to try to vacate the runway just because I didn’t want to vacate the runway at the very end could cause the aircraft to possibly skid off the runway and that would be terrible and that’s why I wouldn’t do that kind of stuff. I would apply the thrust reversers as soon as I touch down until I reach 60 kts and then slowly let go of the throttle just before reaching 30 kts and then exit the runway.
Infinite Flight is not an easy game to play. It’s twitchy with the controls and speed. I’ve crashed many times, I’ve taxied too fast before and I’ve had my fair share of less-than-great piloting skills. So you are not a terrible pilot by any means. We all have our bad days and we learn from them.
Don’t be so hard on yourself, you’ll grow and become better with time.
I thank you so much for this. I just done the MIA RWY 30 landing in solo and realized that I shouldn’t have braked suddenly and that there was another taxiway ahead to vacate the runway. But I’ll keep that in mind.
One time I slid off the runway at the end of a 17 hour flight on Expert during the middle of a super busy event with probably 50+ people around, because I didn’t decrab enough and lost rudder authority as my speed bled off. You will be fine I promise
