This morning, I took off from VNKT with a light fog. As I climbed up the loop to reach 7500ft MSL over the VOR (about 3500ft AGL), I entered a cloud from below, which made me think that clouds had been implemented overnight… watching the replay later, I understood that it was some altitude fog which my med/low settings made look so real!
In the pictures below, you see my TBM in the “cloud”, in my flying setting, then with full quality… I so much enjoyed the feeling of not seing much around the plane! I cannot wait to live this again.
Flying IRL through clouds is amazing fun! I flew through a windy rainstorm in my first flying lesson! Probably why I had a lot of people telling me I had a ‘death grip’ on the controls. I was fighting the rudder pretty hard so I didn’t go in circles 😂
Well, a few words of advice, that has hit me hard:
“You’d rather be late in life, than early into the next one”
Backstory: My science teacher got caught speeding on the M25 (Main highway surrounding London), caught at 100mph (160km/h), and got pulled over, and the police officer only gave him a small fine, since England won the football match that evening. This was like 30 years ago.
Thanks for this great quote/piece of advice!
I have thought it through, though. Now I can/could pay flying lessons, I still could not pay for flying afterward as a hobby, and I am too old to get a pilot job. IF will do very well for the next few decades!
All best for your RL lessons!
Very nice pictures! I flew an A320 into a cloud on final to KSEA. It really is a very nice feeling to really know how to fly the airplane using your instruments.
