You can start ranking up hours for your PPL at 14 in the UK.

Go up at least once a week with an instructor.

Get a logbook and start logging time.

No, do NOT sit in a chair and fly on xplane, fax or Microsoft flight sim. You add more work on your instructor during your ppl phase. If you do get it, fly visually as much as you can rather than just focusing on your instruments.

Once you are done with your ppl, then spend hrs and hrs on flight sim games to hone into your instrument skills.

Till then, enjoy the view that is outside the plane

Exactly, when I started flying (3 years back), my instructor kept telling not to act like we were in a sim. Simmers tend to overfly the aircraft, for example the C150 is a very agile aircraft, it responds instantly to your commands, you don’t need to make a ton of small adjustments. And most simmers who started real life lessons tend to do these unwanted adjustments, and they rarely look out for other trafics as they’re used to focusing on instruments.

I’m not a FI like you(I’m just a PPL holder), just sharing my humble personal experience, feel free to correct me :)

@ZaidSal. Max Sez: My young friend at this point in your long quest I suggest you spend more time studying flight theory and less time on flight simulators until you get the basics and language of aviation down pat… The first step in your quest is the hardest! Learn the language of aviation first. What’s V speed, a HUD, ILS, the Brunelli principle, a slip, a Flight Plan, a METAR etc. these are basic ground school topics to include aviation mathematics! Here’s a couple of free publications I suggest you down load from faa.gov; “The Pilots Handbook” & " The Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge", Both are like a Pilots Bible, they contain practical & easy to understand guidance which will carry you forward to a rating. Good luck!

Best books ever^^^

I would suggest him to start him with much more basic things like “How aircraft are made” or the “Aviation Alphabet” (probably the first thing I learnt) :) I guess we all started from the bottom ;)

For Simulator, i suggest X-Plane :)

Agreed get fsx a pilotbook some training hours too. And get pmdg too if your gonna get fsx

I don’t agree.

You can fly on FSX, but only doing VFR flights with very realistic addons.

Of course, no VFR with A320s. You could just install a very detailed Orbx addon (payware), buy an accuarte Cessna and fly VFR.

You should know when to do what and control yourself of NOT flying IFR during PPL training. Personally speaking, It is a bit difficult for me haha, I just can’t resist flying the A320!

If you have no knowledge on this, as Max said, don’t go to simulators. Take books, learn first (books, meet pilots…etc.).
Please note: Knowing how to land a 737 in IF doesn’t make you an expert. 3/4th of “pilots” in IF have most probably no idea on how a plane flies.

Oh, Abu Dhabi :P.

Well you would have to start with a PPL which (in the US) you don’t get until your at least 17. Also you can’t get a CPL until you are 18. Also keep in mind how many hours you will need.

My suggestion is to join a local glider club. I’ve been in one for 6 months, in spring I’m getting my sailing license already. Also, try to get a work placement in a local airport, it’s fun and informative and it looks good on your CV ;)

En plus la France est si belle vue du ciel, pourquoi regarder ses instruments!
(Translation: blablabla, why would you keep staring at your instruments?)

You can’t get your licence but you can start lessons much before.
