I was thinking about this as I watching Misha flying on liveflightapp just now. With the introduction of global flight, many pilots are going to want to fly the long haul flights. This will increase the flight time to new levels but will reduce the amount of landings. Ultimately, dropping many of those Grade 5 pilots for not meeting the 200 landings req. Will this be addressed in anyway?
Great point. I too would be curious what their solution, if any, would be.
Who knows? There’s no point in speculating:)
They will probably lower the number of landings and increase flight time
I’m pretty sure this was debated on the overall global thread. All speculation at this point and is pointless to tell them how to do it.
I would rather a grade 5 do the landings to make up if they are serous.Just because you can use auto-pilot and not be on your device should not really count by itself.
Actually there is a point. Devs spent much of their time working on these new updates. This may be something that they didnt consider or think about. It is not a bad idea to bring it to their attention now before you get a large amount of people complaining about it post update.
Or you just fly some short haul and long haul flights
I think it’s a valid question.
Of course you’ll always have the ^^^^ fly a short route and then a long route… blah blah, why waste time talking about it bogus bs.
If that’s the attitude, why forum at all.
Anyhow got on a mini rant, solid question though. But, if I had to speculate, I don’t see a change being needed. You can do 7 hour flights now… around in circles… or short hops and pattern work… only change is your boundary is now removed…
This has definitely been considered and is part of a continuous discussion involving all aspects of global rollout.
Details will be posted ahead of time so everyone is well aware of any changes made.
I don’t think there should be any adjustment. Being on autopilot for a long haul flight (while you go off and do something else)… does very little to improve piloting skills as opposed to doing pattern work/touch and goes/airport hopping does.
Solution: don’t fly long haul. It’s just that simple
As stated by a few above, I too am against changing it.
Setting the autopilot and walking away from your device takes zero skill, and shouldn’t be accounted for when determining grade 5. Reducing the landing count just makes pilots ‘lose their skill’ and doesn’t encourage the basics.
On the contrary, due to global, I think the overall flight time, or flight time in 90 days, should INCREASE to reach grade 5.
I don’t think they should change it. Imo, Grade 5 symbolises able pilots that can take on a lot, and therefore shouldn’t be grade five for setting the autopilot on and walking off. Granted, people will want to do long haul flights, but if they are worthy of Grade 5 they should show a range of skill, and do patterns to get more landings.
Everyone is assuming it will get EASIER to attain grade 4 and 5 if there’s a change. Landings are important. But under the current system, long haul flights would rack up hours and XP rather quickly…🤔
I hope that you Will have to make Less landings and more flighthours:)
Well whats the point of global if your going to discourge people from using it.
@Matthew_Harrison Global doesn’t mean you have to fly 14 hour long haul flights every time… it simply means you can fly anywhere in the world.
Exactly. It means I can fly a short twenty minute flight in Kansas now instead of a short twenty minutes flight in California
Yeah but grade 5 who want to do that wont be able to if they want to keep there rank
The long haul flights will be a novelty at first but the vast majority of flights will go back to short and medium distances. Similar to whenever a new plane is released…that’s all you see the first couple of days, then everyone goes back to their normal patterns.
