How to takeoff in 0 feet - a "tutorial" by Pie

Hello fellow forum’ers!

(Is that a word? It probably isn’t and I don’t care)

While fooling around I’ve done the impossible.

I’ve taken off in 0 feet of runway space.

How? You might ask.

How to takeoff in 0 feet of runway space

  • Hop in an MD-11
  • set winds to maximum headwind
  • configure weight to absolute minimum (2 minutes of fuel)
  • set trim to 100%
  • flaps full
  • pitch up, and use the tail as support
  • throttles to max baby

Don’t believe me? Watch for yourself.

(While I’ve probably caused thousands of dollars in structural damage, whatever, it was fun)

Happy flying!

I am actually very afraid of this

I see no point in this post but I think it’s still cool.

That’s what I said.

I imagine Schlyberg torn between removing it for its utter uselessness or keeping it for being cool

Always make sure you tie down your plane! 😂

Great, now try it in a Super D with the same conditions. 😂

Why bother taxiing when you can fly directly to your gate?

Actually give a medal to this guy

Clearly, we have different reasons why we bought IF. As long as you do these things away from TS1 and Expert. Maybe even a ‘casual’ category is needed on IFC.

Have you really never done this before? Even @Swiss has posted this before on his channel.

Better yet, use a 737, I’ve managed to takeoff on the runway and fly directly to the gate

Hahaha this is great

To watch a landing similar to this in real life (though not with an airliner jet): https://twitter.com/xavierkatana/status/951844817893343233
