How to spot an inexperienced pilot

What are some signs that a pilot in IF is inexperienced? I’ll go first: taxiing with strobe lights on…grinds my landing gears

Requesting flight following when they extremely clearly aren’t flying VFR

Keeps landing lights on during the entire flight.
Giving unnecessary statements on ATC (ex. “xxx727 on final runway xx”)

“remaining in the pattern” when requesting departure with a complete flight plan to half way around the world

I’ve always assumed they think it means it’s remaining in the departure pattern and NOT doing actual pattern work.

Flying departure procedures incorrectly. A majority of pilots do not have the proper flight plan procedures filed.

another one: As EXPERT! server ATC when a pilot requests pushback with an aircraft RIGHT behind them, or when they have their engines started at the gate(it shows up as unable to give a drag& pushback).

When they dont display their username

((They know theyre about to commit some serious aviation crimes and they dont want to be called out or messaged on the IFC))

To be fair, requesting pushback with aircraft behind you is pretty reasonable. We do that IRL. You want to let ATC know as soon as you can that you’re ready to go so they can work you into the sequence.

They do this IRL believe it or not

Yes at uncontrolled airports, but you wouldn’t at a towered airport unless they asked you to report it.

Im constantly hearing it at SFO when listening to ATC

Interesting, I wonder if they are asking them to. Every airport I’ve flown to we would not report it unless asked.

I havent heard requests from ATC so im assuming its in the charts somewhere. Then again i only listen to tower so maybe APPR informs them to report final

Fair point, I guess the wording is slightly different. When we switch from approach to tower we usually say “visual runway XX” or “ILS runway XX”

I want to cry every time I hear it. ESPECIALLY on Expert Server when most of the time the ATIS states NO PATTERN work… :expressionless_face::melting_face:

Too much relying on vnav probably when it comes to descent and lack of ability to maintain control of your aircraft or understand the limits of your aircraft. Also if you’re experienced you can easily adjust your flight plan real time to make adjustments wherever necessary.

and ATC approves the flight instead of please check user guide

Honestly at busy airports, i appreciate engines on and ready to go, nothing more annoying than 380 taking sweet time with the engines, it makes no diff in game when or how you turn on engines. Dont want to pop your realism bubble but pretty sure IRL it takes more than just hitting the apu to turn on each engine

Taxis all the way to their destination.
