How to request decent via

I am approaching Tokyo and people are saying for example “requesting decent via XACR arrival.
How do I do this?

You have to have a STAR in your flight plan and then you can request descent via it in the ATC menu.

Check this tutorial out for how to use STARs.

Yeah I just watched it and I have set an approach star. There was no ATC in the video though…
Does ATC only work for arrival not approach

You need an arrival (which is the STAR) in your flight plan. An approach is final to a runway.
