Getting back into aviation honestly wasn’t on my 2026 bucket list, but after recently turning 18 and trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, I realized how much I genuinely enjoy aviation. Because of that, I decided to jump back into Infinite Flight.
I’ve been flying consistently over the past few days and just reached Grade 3. I’ve already had some really fun and successful flights, including a long-haul from LAX to Manchester that I started the night before school and finished when I got home the next day. That flight was a blast, and while flying into Manchester, I noticed a large group of Finnair aircraft all flying the same route — probably six or seven of them no pun intended . Seeing that really stood out to me and made me want to get more involved in group flying and the community as a whole.
I’d love to immerse myself more in the sim, fly with others, take part in events, and experience more ATC coverage. Because of that, I was hoping to get some help finding a virtual airline and learning how to participate in community events.
Also, one more thing — I have absolutely no idea how to change my IFC display name. My current one is super bland and honestly looks like a bot name, so any help with that would be greatly appreciated.
Looking forward to flying more, learning, and being part of the community. Thanks in advance!
Hi and welcome back.
To get more involved with InfiniteFlight Community events and stuff like that not much you can do just watch what events people put up with finding more frequent ATC airports you can check out ATC Schedule | January 2026
The best way to fly with others and have the best amount of fun is to join a VA/VG as you’ve.
Now, the only things I can recommend you regarding what Virtual Airline/Virtual Group to join are:
Find an VA that operates any aircraft you like or one that is generally based on an aviation group (whether it’s an airline or military etc) that you like IRL
(A bit of a hard thing to know unfortunately), find a VA/VG that has many active members so that you never fly alone. That way there’s way more fun than an inactive one of course
Last thing which is also quite similar to 2 is, see if the airline hosts events frequently. If it does then there will (most propably) be ATC coverage at the airport the VA will host the event. Adding to that, if the airport in question is big or the event’s featured route is attractive to other people, there will be enough traffic to make you feel like you’re in a real busy airport. (Note that in such situations there are delays)
Also just to know, as Dan has propably told you in PMs, name changes can happen after you contact a moderator. Mind that you won’t be able to change your username again before 2 years after the last name change.
