How to estimate fuel?

Hi, i’m kind on new to IF and wondering how to properly estimate weights? I sometimes use Fuelplanner - VirtualAirlines.EU but it doesn’t have some aircraft like the B738M. It also sometimes glitches and says e.g. that a flight from Melbourne to Townsville in a A322 takes 23:50? (It only takes around 3-4 hours). I usually resort to going on Flight radar and finding a real flight and seeing the length in time.

Hey there!

This is what I do - I look at the average flight time for a route.

Estimating weights isn’t really a good idea. A lot of use Simbrief which gives fuel, pax & cargo amounts and has all the commercial aircraft Infinite Flight has.

Oh ok thank you so much.

If you have any questions regarding Simbrief - please ask :)

Is there a free website or is simbrief the only way?

Simbrief is free…

Navigraph is sneaky and tries to get you to buy the subscription but you can get around it.

I use SimBrief for that, but if i have no it or i fly on solo server, i just take the distance of route and i multiply it by 1.852, you have to divide that result by the speed in km/h (GS estimated that you will be), i normally use 800 km/h and with that you will have the estimated enroute time in hours (Normally aircraft does to fly between 400-500 knots so multiply that number with 1.852 too to get the speed in Km/h), use that to configure your fuel in weight and balance screen, always add in routes less than 4.000-5.000 Kilometers of distances 1-3 hours of fuel more, in routes less than 1.000 kilometers use the double of trip fuel at least if your landing weight let you, and in routes larger than 5.000 kilometers add 1 hour and half more of fuel always paying attention to MLDW.

It is important use Windy or the new update in map to take in count the wind component, if you will use any route that have strong front winds you will have to put more fuel, maybe 1-2 hours more depending of your route or a little more. At least i used to do that after use SimBrief like 5 months and i always land with a nice Fuel Remaining and without overheight and i never had problems doing that. If you know that your route have front winds, use 300 knots ot a little more like 330.

Always pay attention to Trip Fuel if you still pass the MLDW you have to do 1 or 2 missed approaches or active fuel dumps.

Ok I just logged into Simbrief and it has everything I need. It should also help me with the other Topic that I created about stalling after take-off (Probably overweight). Thank you so much for the help!

I check how long flight distance is on google and typically have full fuelled aircraft

Hey, I play IF on an iPhone 11 and I was going to download Simbrief on it but I had a quick question, how do I copy the flight plan info and paste it into IF?

All you need to do is generate the flight plan in Simbrief.

Then load up a flight in Infinite Flight, go into the map screen and click the “Load from Simbrief” option. See below for more info:

I do the flight time which you can roughly find on fr24 although it depends on the winds but then I add 30-1 hour of extra fuel on top of the flight time just in case you need to divert or winds.

Simbrief works in 95% of cases.

[737 MAX 8 UPDATE] Your Ultimate Guide to Infinite Flight Fuel Burn + Fuel Calculator can cover the rest.

You do need a navigraph account. But you can get around it forcing you to get the subscription.

Make a navigraph account then go to this website - https://dispatch.simbrief.com

I tried getting the app on my phone but I apparently need a subscription to be able to use the app?

Yeah you do need a subscription in order to use the Navigraph app. The Simbrief website is free to use though - https://dispatch.simbrief.com

Ah ok. Can it still copy/ paste into IF?
