First of all, sorry for the amount of topics I have created lately, this is probs my last one. Anyways, I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and while I was assigning buttons, I noticed that reverse thrust was a button. I assigned a button to it but when I loaded in the game and tried it, nothing happened. I have tried assigning it do different buttons but still no. I have tried holding just the button down, the throttle remains at idle. I have tried holding the button and moving the throttle axis on the joystick but it just increases the throttle normally. I also created a new topic for this as most of the topics regarding this are from 2019 etc. If someone knows how to fix this, it would help alot. Thank you!
Afaik reverse thrust doesn’t work, but I definitely could be wrong…
Hi there, sorry you’re having trouble with reverse thrust. Here are a few tips that might help:
- Throttle at Idle:
Make sure your throttle is completely at idle before trying to engage reverse thrust. In Infinite Flight, reverse won’t activate unless your throttle is fully down and you’re on the ground.
- Press and Hold:
Instead of just tapping the reverse button, try pressing and holding it. A quick tap might not register, but holding it should keep reverse thrust engaged.
- Check Your Controls:
Go to Settings then select Controls and double-check that the reverse thrust function is correctly assigned to the button you’re using. If needed, recalibrate your joystick to make sure everything is working as expected.
- Test Another Aircraft:
Sometimes switching to a different aircraft or doing a short solo flight can help you figure out if the issue is with the aircraft’s configuration or your control setup.
If none of these steps work, you might try resetting your control assignments or even reinstalling the app. Hope this helps, and let me know how it goes!
Thank you guys for your help. I just realised that when I was trying it, I was spawning in on the runway and the game doesn’t let you deploy reverse thrust while sitting idle but I didn’t know that. I tried landing THEN pressing the button to engage it and it worked! A bit weird though as it deploys reverse thrust but the slider on the screen doesn’t move. So it kinda turns out it was me that was the problem but thank you for the suggestions!
Sorry but “false alarm”. I posted that after I landed once and it worked. I tried landing in a different plane but this time it didn’t work. No animation, sound or actual physics from it. I have tried various different aircraft, airports, button assignments etc. I even tried the same aircraft that it worked on and still no.
You may need to press and hold the reverse thrust button while also applying some throttle.
How are you connecting the joystick to IF? If you’re using MapConnect, you need to refresh the manifest (press the “Refresh Manifest” button) after loading into a new flight to get certain features (reverse thrust being one of these) to work.
I think he said he’s done these things
@tomthetank I’ve tried that but it just applies throttle normally (accelerating forward). @Jai0114 that might work, I’ll try that. I’m using Map.Connect
It does work (refreshing the manifest) however whenever I use reverse thrust, it does the animation and plays the sound but basically has the same performance as if you were to not use it at all?
How do you have the throttle mapped? Single axis up/down or two separate (one for up/ one for down)
The reverser function has to be held; this unlocks and opens the reversers to the idle reverse position. The throttle must then be advanced/reduced while the button is held to increase/decrease the amount of reverse produced.
The throttle indication on the screen isn’t completely consistent on across the aircraft when using the reverse on a joystick/game controller. Some will move fully up the scale, some only 1/3 up and increase/decrease the numerical value.
Thank you so much. This has worked. It didn’t work the first time but I just had to click “REFRESH MANIFEST” then it worked flawlessly. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
