hiya, just wondering know that under pattern work conditions, how to design the route? each time i tried to design some waypoints, but when i prepare take off, the flight plan will directly turn to the waypoints in the last circle and igonre the former waypoints. I don’t know how to fix it, does someone could help me? Thanks

I usually just hand fly the patterns. There really isn’t a point for me to put waypoints for pattern work. I usually just eyeball each section of the pattern and hand fly it.

Hello there!

Have a look at this section of the User Guide:

It contains a video tutorial on how to do pattern work (linked separately below):

Have a great rest of your day!

Thanks for your reply, btw, do you have some advice about using which aircraft to do pattern work?

I would keep it to the small GA aircraft (Cessnas, XCub, TBM, etc…)

You could always use smaller jet engine aircraft as well. You get an extra 500 feet of space when flying patterns ;).

Move up the waypoints each time you make a turn (or when the next waypoint turns pink). This is how I design my waypoints for pattern work.

When you just took off until your pattern altitude (in this case, VTBS is 4ft MSL and I use A320 so the pattern altitude is 1500ft) the route you take (RW19R to ROVEN) is pink. Then when you approach ROVEN, the next route (ROVEN to VIOLA) will turn pink. That’s when you move up RW19R so it becomes the last current waypoint (see next image).

Do the same thing until the waypoint on final (in this case, it’s LAINO).

When you’re entering the final cone, activate APPR mode (and thus deactivating GPS LNAV), then move 2 waypoints up (in this case, move B5642 and LAINO up so they’ll become the last 2 waypoints). Don’t forget to set ROVEN as the ACT LEG otherwise you won’t be able to activate GPS LNAV if you wish to do another pattern work.

And you’re all set! Just land or if you wish to touch and go, repeat the same steps.

Personally, I recommend any light aircraft or a airbus a320 as it is really really smooth and stable

i second that

thanks for your help, you are right, I always forgot the ACT LEG function!!!
