what a good percent for the trim?
Whatever brings your device back to where you calibrated it.
It depends on the situation, if you’re having trouble pointing he nose down, use negative trim, and vice versa
Or don´t use too much positive trim.
Sorry but that’s a false statement
I use extremely much TRIM for the 767 as well, I can hardly land it softly without it. I just can’t pull it up enough.
45% trim for when landing at 150kts or 55% of trim when landing at 145kts at NORMAL weight. On the 767.
Or just recalibrate the device once disabling autopilot…
I do that as well, but sometimes that’s not enough and you need a bit more help.
Not realistic :)
If you want to disable the autopilot with minimum consequences, try flying with the aircraft fully configured (landing), and add trim while watching how much does the aircraft´s nose moves.
I use anywhere from 10-30% trim, + or - depending on if I’m ascending or descending.
The trim changes the default “reset” position of the elevator. Setting the trim to eliminate the nose bump when engaging and disengaging the auto pilot, and is different on every aircraft and weight %. This is why it is a good idea to always use the same planes, with the same take off weight and the same landing weight remembering or noting the percentage of trim required.
