Basically, how long does it take you from the moment you think “I’m gonna fly” to pressing ‘pushback’? Me, about an hour to hour and a half but that’s only because once I’ve chosen a route, I do things really realistically - or as much as I can anyway - and get the correct amount of fuel, callsign, aircraft type, cruise altitude/speed, etc. So what about you?
I usually take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour looking at flight plans, altitudes, and going over SimBrief. I like to be realistic also :)
20mins ish
Probably about 30 minutes for me. Once I get in I set my flight plan which takes me a long time. Then I adjust my cameras to help me with some parts of the flight such as the pushback and parking. Then I adjust my weight and balance. Do some math about the headings I am going to use during my descent before I intercept the localizer. And then I write down my cruising altitude, speed, runways, and headings. And thats when I pushback.
To be honest anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours.
Like I could spawn in, quickly get a flight plan, and organise my jet on pushback and pre-taxi, or I could spawn in and take a very realistic long approach. It mainly depends on my timings in the real world. :)
Around 45 minutes. I have flight plans that I have to review in Simbrief. I usually spawn in around 15 minutes before departure time to set everything up
depends. if its a long haul overnight than around 45 mins but if its short-medium haul around 20-30 mins.
If I rush it? 20 mins. If it’s a short haul little less. Usually I spawn in about 25-40 minutes prior. Unless its a busy event, then I don’t want to hold up a gate for that long
Interesting… I like the idea of calculating localiser intercept heading. I might do that myself! Also, glad to see I’m not the only realism guy because sometimes it does seem a bit like that! 😊
I usually plan my flights beforehand. So after i spawn all i need to do is check weather en route, enter my flightplan, set weight and balance and im good to go. Doesnt take me more than 10-15 mins
Well my record is 8 minutes 11 seconds from Spawn to Rotate safely- in a WN 738 from OAK-HNL. (I was in a rush). But if I have time, for a long haul maybe 30 ish minutes.
@KGJT-9149 Xplane has entered the chat lol
Typically takes about 20 minutes for me, I use a lot of “paper based” stuff.
Flying the 737 frequently I’ve developed a lot of memory items, rules of thumb for v-speeds etc…
Get the routing, look up the best cruise altitude, do the performance calculations and scan the documents regarding the SID/weather then I’m ready for pushback.
I do the real world stuff from 1hr to 2hrs of preflight
Maybe 10-30 minutes depending on the route.
Calculate localiser intercept heading? Isn’t that just in the charts? If the STAR and final approach chart aren’t connected than you just go from the last waypoint in the STAR. Then you intercept if you are flying an ILS.
Can be about 10-30 minutes (10 minutes if short-haul, 30 minutes if ultra long haul.)
Eh I’d say 6ish mins. I’m just to used to everything so it’s a breeze. It takes longer if I need to brief with someone depending on the flight.
From my screen turning on to being in the air it can take 20-45 minutes sometimes. If I am rushing it can take 15 minutes but I usually have a messy flight plan in that scenario.
I like realism flights, so I set a time for departure so I know roughly when im going to arrive. I spend usually around 40-45 minutes at the gate, depending on if it is a busy airport, if so less
10 hours later…
I think my record in IF was maybe like 5 minutes at most. I was flying from GJT-NRT (realism 100) and I use the same FPL for flying between the US/Canada and Narita so I have it saved on a note card so I just had to copy it down.
