I’m waiting to see Seb’s attempt at putting together a flight simulator terrain. Seriously I don’t know exactly what is used but I suspect it is based on XPlane terrain types as defined in World Editor used to glue all of the navigational and airport features together. I’m guessing Philippe has been adding some geometric hills mesh in the background. To get any sort of accuracy in the features would require s lot of memory to provide a seamless view as you fly over the map. This is why you will see the world end in certain places due to memory allocation. I’m thinking that there are 2 opportunities here. PC based world with high resolution and 3D and signs with possible Google Earth features and s low resolution for portable apps like we see today. It will be very interesting to see what this app ends up like.
