How do you navigate at landing?

So I was approaching today and I had the ILS set to NAV1 when I activated APPR Mode nothing happened. So I tried NAV(NAV1) but there also nothing happened but suddenly it just pressed the nose down with -7000 ft/min even though I was under the glideslope? So how can I activate APPR Mode or sth similar to that?

Just make sure your Nav Source is set to Nav 1 instead of GPS
