I always try to takeoff smoothly on all aircrafts and I have messed around with the weather and weight settings but still it won’t work.
I need help on how to takeoff with the Airbus a321.
When I lift the nose off the ground the rest of the plane just shoots up very fast but I move the sidestick up very slow
Did you lower the sensitivity in settings? How about trying the trim?
What speed are you rotating at, also what flap setting?
@Lx_D… MaxSez: If you have correct V & proper flap settings the jump start sound like either a Trim or Weight & Balance setting problem. Pre-Flight check you load, insure its evenly distributed, Load heavest in the forward hold & insure your just under gross Wt for take off , or load the same but stay below Landing weight so you don’t have to add to your workload on Approach with a fuel dump to get down to Landing weight.
Always recalibrate prior to taxi. It’s important to check Trim Button for 0/0 indications prior to launch. (The trim button has a line indicator, check it, if the indicator is showing at the threshold recalibrate, trim in IF should only be adjusted in cruise. That my opinion and I’m sticken with it, the so called Pro’s we’ll object to my Trim procedure, everyone is entitle to an “opinion” Just remember IF Aircraft have no Trim tabs, what ever work for you is the key.
(An aircraft at V1 is alive, At VR its designed to lift in its direction of flight. Nice gentle control input rearward your flying, V2 your on your way, don’t over rotate or you’ll get a tail strike, watch your angle of attach…)
I try to keep my vertical speed around 500fpm as I initially lift off and
then gradually increase it by about 100fpm every few seconds after my rate
of climb stabilizes. If you have a crosswind to deal with now, you’ll also
have to manage the rudder on your takeoff roll to keep you on centerline.
THAT’S where I sometimes have trouble.
No, because every other aircraft I fly which is a lot of other aircrafts I am awesome at rotating
Since i lift off slowly I always takeoff at
Power: 75%
Flaps: 1+F
Begin rotation speed: 145KTS
Liftoff speed:165KTS
Thanks, that’s why I am so excited about inflight assistant coming to android, I don’t even know when I’m at V1
@Lx_D… MaxSez: Well my friend, To fly with the Eagles until you get IF Assistance do it the old fashion way “Scan” & react. The instrumentation is right in your face in the HUD. As you line up set your flaps to the takeoff position. Throttle up slowly to TOGA after you get the go from tower, fly the V’s useing the speed tape, at V1 your rolling, at VR your lifting, about V2 clean up while climbing out, dirty up (wheels up, flap to flight etc.). Don’t worry about noise reduction nobodies listening. It’s a rhythm your get into, pure root & muscle memory. In the real world in an airliner you’ll be the Pilot Flying (PF) and the Pilot Observing (PO) will do a call out. For now it’s just you fly by hand. Don’t mess with that autopilot till your at cruise till your Grade 3 or better for launch & recovery. Get the rhythm, every aircraft if different in suttle way but a set personal procedure for each evolution in all conditions is paramount. Hope this help a bit. Practice makes perfect. Never depend on anything but your own flying skills. Auto Pilots & IF Assistant are just iceing on the cake. It’s always the man then the machine! Regards
Try a 10 degree pitch and look for takeoff at 155kts and let us know what you results are after a few attempts. Maybe increase your N1 a touch higher with less rearward rotation as well.
The a320 series acts differently from other planes. It does that if you don’t fly it right ;)
Firstly, you need to watch your speed. For the a320 series, the V1 speed is around 130-140 kts. When you reach V1, give the plane like 2-4 seconds, then bull back on the side stick (or your device lol). Unlike other planes, don’t pull straight back, move your device slowly back. Also remember not to takeoff into a tailwind and use your rudder when you takeoff in a crosswind so you don’t fly off the runway ;)
My guess is that your taking off at a way to fast speed.
Check out this chart for all the V1 Speeds for different planes:
The a320 doesn’t have a 1+F setting in IF, it only has 1, 2 ,3 ,4.
I think you mean tailwind, most takeoffs are performed with a headwind.
Opps thats what I meant. Get those mixed up lol
Even with IF Assistant you have to calculate the V1 and VR speeds. You enter these into App before pushback so that it can do the call outs for you.
That is a very ‘high’ speed for a generalisation / estimation for a figure that cannot even be calculated without a large number of parameters, the main one of which is weight and runway length (which is why you can’t give a ‘guestimation’ for V1 as a guide for ‘any’ runway)
To @Lx_D, try rotating at a lower IAS. If you’re ‘shooting’ up as you say, it’s highly likely you have already exceeded V2, let alone V1, thus resulting in the extreme amount of lift due to a higher IAS that is causing you to rapidly, and uncomfortably, climb
Out of the blue answer, but try rotating early. I do it. The nose will lift for a second or two and as the plane gains speed the rest of it will follow. Just watch the VS as to not induce a stall
Great Spreed Sheet. @epaga recommend these sheets for your “V/Flap” Project. Regards, Max
Easy with that arm flex. Too much o’ it, and the yoke overreacts. Pull up very gently, and it should work.
Is that an Airbus thing because it never happens in any other aircraft like ERJ or Boeing
