How do i know what SID or STAR to use?

If i pick a random one it just makes a new waypoint

When you select a SID/STAR it will automatically give you a set of waypoints that you can follow for your approach/departure

Wait, so i dont need to settup any waypoints?

I’m not quite sure what you mean

Like you just said if i pick a STAR or SID it lready sets up waypoints?

Yes when you select “add to flight plan” it will automatically input the waypoints for you

Ohhhh, so i do still need to ise the waypoints from my simbreif and what er STAR i use it just inputs it into the plan? Sorry so many questions, still getting use to things.

I don’t use Simbrief so unfortunately I can’t answer that for you

What im saying is the waypoints simbreig gives me, i input it into IF, and when i select a random STAR it inputs it into the FPL?

What I do is the following: The first and last set of 5 numbers/letters are your SID and STAR. When making a fpl, tap your departing airport, go to Procedures, Select a SID and choose the one that Simbrief gives you. After that, add your waypoints as normal and, when you reach the STAR do the same I told you above but with your arrival airport, making sure to choose the STAR Simbrief gave you.

Simbrief gives you an assigned SID and STAR (unless the airport does not have one to begin with) in the routing. Usually it will be a 5-6 letter name at the beginning and end of your flight plan. Here’s an example:

MINAC4 would be the departure SID you select, PIRAT3 would be the arrival STAR which you can select while doing you’re flight plan creation in the simulator. It automatically generates the waypoints on the SID/STAR for you.

The SID and STAR you choose will depend on which direction you’re arriving from.

Don’t forget about the transition fixes, AKA the waypoint right after the SID and before the STAR. They’re like the branches to/from the main departure/arrival to your flight plan.

Here’s an older chart of the SITEE4 STAR into KLAS. You can see at the top right, there are 3 ways to get onto that STAR. One from MPIRE, GGAPP, and SINNN.

In the same screenshot I sent earlier, it’d be the MINAC4 with the KCC transition. The STAR would be the PIRAT3 with the PAINT transition.

Mk thanks so would the transion fix already be loaded on my route in SimBreif?

Yep! It should be there. Sometimes the transition fix will be the same name as the SID/STAR, that means there is no transition fix.
