I get that for the advanced you need to take a test, but what are the requirements to be an ATC on playground?
Playground is an ATC training ground, so you shouldnât need a whole lot of requirements. But you MUST know the meaning of each command and how to properly use them.
But every time I try to join it just says Iâm an observer and I canât do anything
You need to select a frequency first in the airport selection page.
Thatâs the cause:
There are no requirements to control On the playground because people can learn how to control! :)
Can you elaborate? Iâm having the same issue.
You tap on âair traffic controlâ from the main menu. Then you need to select the airport at which you wish to control. After selecting the airport, you must select the frequency that you wish to open (eg. ground, tower, approach). Then tap on âflyâ and you will be loaded in as a controller, rather than a pilot.
Thanks for the reply. The problem Iâm having is after I have selected the server(atc playground),it wonât let me select an airport. It shows all the available airports in live and when I hit any of them,it changes to brown from white, but when I hit the fly button,it doesnât go to that airport.
Figured it out.Reread your post. Thanks.
@FlameATC⌠Want to listen in & learn only. Fly in to your airport of choice and park. Turn off your lights. Select the tower Freq from the comm menu sit and listen. I do it all the time. Watching activities on an active PG âBâ class airport is the best show in town. I get plenty of chuckles just watching and listening. Itâs a laugh a minute.

(Do the same on the Advanced. Youâll be able to pick out the professional controller immediately if you go from B to B)
âď¸best advice yet
Glad I could help.
I was just thinking the other day that it would be fun to tune in to Advanced ATC, didnât think of this simplest of solutions. Thanks Max.
Well, it worked until the Tower controller got on me for not being tuned to GroundâŚso much for my âListenInâ callsign :-)
Just message us prior and let us know thatâs what youâd like to do on advanced ;)
