How did your story begin with infinite flight?

Last September, I was in a pretty rough place. Like a lot of us, I’ve had my ups and downs, but this past year? It’s been a tough one. I felt completely disconnected from the things I used to love, and one of those big loves has always been aviation.

I’ve served in the Air Force and spent years enjoying flight simulators on my old PC with a joystick in hand. Flying wasn’t just a hobby; it felt like home. But with time, and life doing its thing, I drifted away from it.

One day—when I didn’t have much energy for anything—I decided I’d try to find a way back to my old interests. I missed aviation like crazy. But here’s the thing: I didn’t expect to find anything worth my time on a mobile platform. A flight sim on a phone? C’mon, right?

I was wrong.

Totally by chance, I found Infinite Flight on the App Store, and I thought, “Why not? Let’s give it a shot.”

From the moment I opened it, I was blown away:

Realistic weather and aerodynamics? Check.

Busy airports, taxiing, and ground operations? Check.

A live sky full of traffic and Air Traffic Control? Checkand this was the real shocker for me.

Graphics? Crazy for a mobile game! Check.

The first time I took off and saw other pilots waiting, communicating with ATC, and flying like pros, I couldn’t believe it. It felt alive. It felt real. And for the first time in a long time, I felt genuinely excited again.

It sounds cheesy, but Infinite Flight became my gateway back to the skies. It’s more than just a sim; it’s a community, a passion, and for me, it was a way to reconnect with something I thought I’d lost.

So now I want to hear your story:
• How did you discover Infinite Flight?
• What was your first “wow” moment?
• And what keeps you coming back to the skies?

Eight years ago, I stumbled upon Infinite Flight in the App Store. I downloaded it out of curiosity and found it to be truly amazing. From that moment on, I fell in love with this simulator. I was ten years old at the time. 🙃 In July 2021, I registered a community account. The people in the community are very friendly. In the past eight years, I have given up playing Infinite Flight several times due to academic problems, but after everything got better, I came back here again. This simulator has a magical power that makes me inseparable from it. It is really excellent. 🥰

Amazing that it has captured you for so long! I guess it had a lot of features added throughout the years?

When I got into Infinite Flight, it didn’t even have a global map, nor did it have the high-definition graphics it has today, and I was just a kid 😂. Now Infinite Flight has undergone tremendous changes, and I have successfully enrolled in school and become a medical student. I am really grateful that Infinite Flight has been with me for so long.

That’s awesome man, seriously!! I have a friend who just finished med school, I know how challenging it is, congrats ❤️

We are lucky people like you have stuck around for so long with this simulation, this is what kept it growing and getting more traffic, and therefore more updates and features ;)

Good luck with your academic pursuit!

I have seen RFS I think, but it didn’t capture me at all, not like IF at least

Nice! But remember that there is always room for improvement ✨

of course there is.
I want my flights to be as realistic as posible and i did a few challenging landings so i think im pretty good already.

You know how when engaging A/T, the throttle goes to 50 and then wherever it needs? you dont hear that irl, so what i do is maintain altitude after takeoff and then engaging A/T so it sounds like the real thing. I pick the altitude based on navigraph charts.

Thatd how pro i am >:)

I got back fo flight sims / flying games not too long ago actually. When I was young when floppy disks and CDs were a thing, I used to have Flight Unlimited on my pc.

As I got older I switched to car / fighting games, so ‘flying’ games were out of my radar for 30+ years.

Around 2 yrs ago I downloaded X-Plane Mobile out of curiousity, and loved it. However the glitches, same cityscape everywhere you go, flying solo (multiplayer was questionable for me) and limited planes that actually work made me try to look for another flight sim.

Found IF, but was not immediately hooked. Managed to get to Level 3 then a few days after that got a Level 3 violation… which made me basically want to know more about the rules and procedures more deeply as not to make anymore mistakes. That was what got me hooked as I became a bit obsessive haha. And here I am

This sim is a great way to learn about real life procedures actually!

Even me, thought I knows all the essentials, and got that reality check too. Realized I need to sharpen my memory and read up a bit as to make sure I won’t cause any mishaps:)

I just want to say that I love how passionate you are about this. And I felt some vulnerability there. Kudos.

Thank you. Yes, I’m at a pretty not-that-good-a-place right now. But I know it’ll be better, just kills me sometimes how much time it takes to get better.

And yes, I mean it amazes me that nowadays all of this is possible on a simple mobile phone/tablet, and to be so good looking graphically and also maintaining accuracy with gps waypoints and real life navaids… this blows my mind

I was just getting into aviation so I wanted to try some simulators but i wanted one that was free and on mobile so I downloaded a bunch of different ones but they weren’t that realistic, right when i thought there wasn’t one I found Infinite flight. I decided I might as well try it after I gave it a look. before I even loaded in, I knew this was the one, I knew this was app to change my view on things. The details, The places you can explore. I couldn’t get enough, I found app I’ve been looking for my whole life. Once I got more into it I bought the subscription and the adventure became more real. Then I found out about the community and instantly wanted to become part of it. This was 3 years ago and I never turned my back towards Infinite Flight, it was my escape and because of this my passion for aviation will just grow stronger and stronger and stronger. This app proved to me that even if its on mobile or free with no subscription it can have just as much greatness and pride as Microsoft flight sim or any other big simulator or payed for games in the world.
So thats my story and I hope you all liked it.

That’s awesome man, I’m glad you ended up finding it!

Hey, that’s awesome! I use navigraph too!

What I do, is reach my initial target speed manually after takeoff, gently throttling back, then, when I engage the AP, it holds my desired speed and then I can adjust my rate of accent with no worry

Yo i think we might be separated at birth xd.

Anyway, lets get back on topic

Ohhhh. You made me go back some good 8 years of my life. It was around 2013 when the game was released. A guy from my class was playing it while waiting for the parents and I saw that he was playing with the 787 of virgin. I said to myself " I need to fly with these bad boys. Went home the whole way begging my mum to buy me the game. It was a success. Since then my love with aviation and my geographical skills only gotten better and improved. Thanks Infinite Flight for being my reason to turn on the cellphone at weekends.
