I’m curious how everyone got to this community.
For example: I got into aviation when I was 5 after my Uncle gave me a paper aeroplane for Christmas, this sparked my interest and I started to look at the sky differently.
What about you?
My first flight on the Airbus A380 with Air France, it looked waay different from anything that I saw before. I had to know more about it. The rest is history.
I didn’t really have a specific date, I just loved planes. Especially when I took a flight on a Cessna 172, it essentially solidified the fact that I am going to get a full-time job in aviation when I grow up.
Ever since I was a wee lad. I’ve never had a year where I haven’t flown on a plane. I don’t plan on breaking this streak in the near future or ever. I think that’s why I love planes so much. 😊
I have always loved planes and aviation. I wanted to go to the Air Force Academy as a kid but alas my eight sight was not good enough. However I did manage to get my private pilots license at the age of 33 and realized a dream. Although I have not been able to fly much since due to lack of funds I continue to love everything about aviation. I hope to return to the cockpit one day, in the meantime the sim world has a lot to offer!
Ironically it was thanks to a misunderstanding. I always liked planes, but thanks to that misunderstanding, my interest took off to other level. It actually happened at the same time that i became really interested in engineering, and i Saw a documentary, explaining the massive engineering put in the a380. That was when i understood that i really loved planes.
It was 2 years ago (i know its quite new), when i returned from Eindhoven with Ryanair.
I want to become a pilot or an aeronautichal engineer for Airbus. If that doesnt work i will graduate in Computer engineering (very well payed in Portugal, with lower average grades) and then i ll raise the money to become an airline pilot. It is my ultimate goal.
I flew on AA to LAX. got hooked immediately.
If you’re curious, the flights were in October of '17
The IFC got me into aviation aviation on June 24, 2017
Well, I took my first flight within a few months of my birth. So, I’ve been growing up with aviation. However, when I was somewhere around little kid years, my mom took me to LAX at 6:30am or so to see the only A380 that took off at that time.
5th grade at my local EAA airport day. Flew in a twin Cessna 310.
Going on an AirTran flight back in 2013 and watching an Air Crash Investigation épisode back in 2012 of the doomed Alaska 261 flight.
I also saw the Air Crash Investigation of China Airlines 006. After watching the successful emergency landing after that horrific dive, I downloaded Mayday Emergency Landing and played it for a while. After the AirTran flight, I discovered Infinite Flight, learned more about aviation, and today, I get hypnotized by planes in the sky.
When I watched Air Crash Investigations. I know a lot of people will say that though.
The money… lol, but also the fact that you can go anywhere in the world on planes! It is just truly amazing how advanced for our time some of them are, like the B787 and the A350! I also remember that walking in a terminal at KDCA and seeing all the different airlines, I then researched some, watched some videos on that airline, and then got IF.
A few years back I started tracking people i know flights on flightradar24. I wanted to learn more about their flights. Then I got into aviation
When I got to hop into a cockpit of an a380 at age 7.
When I was like 3 (2008) I was on a JAL Boeing 747-400 and the pilot or f/o came up to me personally and gave me a map showing the FPL. I still have it to this day!
My grandmother has always been fascinated by planes. Things that can transport hundreds of people at 800km/h. She’s never bothered to learn every plane by name but she loves the 747 and the A380 and can tell which one is which. She then got me into Air Crash investigation by showing me ‘Southern Storm’ one night. From there I loved the show then got into aviation. And then got better than my grandmother at identifying planes.
When i picked up my dad from his usual commuter trip from jakarta to surabaya… saw a lot of Mad dog back then… its a shame that i only flew the mad dog once…
I was always interested in Aviation (Jet liners) to be specific and the reason was me being fond of travelling :) since I was 5 (2009)
I became more knowledgeable about planes and stuff when I bought an encyclopedia about them and then trying to find them on FlightRadar24 ;)
It started when my brother came home with a copy of Flight Simulator 95 and a joystick. I got hooked, and couldn’t stop reading that big booklet the sim came with and begging him to let me use his computer.
I then got my own computer, started making add-on scenery for FS98, which got a stranger who lived not far from me to reach out and offer a flight in a beat up 172.
This got me definitely hooked. I started working on paid scenery add-ons for FS2000 and took flying lessons with the money I earned. At the same time I was dreaming of one day working on my own simulator… Maybe that will happen someday ;-)
