How Close Infinite Flight is to larger Professional Simulators

Not to long ago i built myself a PC that i wanted to use for flight simulating. I bought myself X-Plane 11 while it was in beta, and when i first started flying with the 737-800 I was very familiar. The way the plane flew almost exactly like the one in IF. The only hard part i had to learn by myself was startup, using the FMC and how to function the AP panel. I know how to use the AP system in IF, but the activating process in making the autopilot was different. But I knew how to do a number of thing from the help from IF. I Could setup a potentially stable glide slope with the result of a proper smooth landing. I learned some ATC commnds and what they mean. I think infinate flight is a large stepping stone for young people to get into flying. It is easy to use and very interactive between the pilot and the sim. I think IF wil, someway impact the flights I’m community, by bringing more and more people into flying!

What do you think?

i love infinite flight but it isn’t even nearly close to pro simulators
ill explain later

Although Infinite Flight delivers good realism, it still lacks many parts of real aviation and professional flight sims. Pro flight sims has fully functional cockpits and components of an aircraft. IF only deliviers about 1/3

Yeah! I LOVE Infinite Flight. But you can’t make a comparison to a pc sim. Obviously a major difference in power. As far as controllability, you add in a joystick to Infinite Flight and you have similarities. I still love IF.

I agree I think Infinite Flight is closer to other flight sims than people give it credit for. It is possible for FDS to model the cockpit, for instance, X-plane 11 mobile has managed to do it, but doesn’t have multiplayer. IF is going in a good direction, and could reach it faster if (but I don’t think they should) they let go of older, slower devices.

Infinite Flight is actually getting closer to what FSX or X-Plane can do lately. Infinite Flight can do what Aerofly or X-Plane Mobile can’t do. So I think IF could be equal to other PC Simulators by 5 years again imho

This x100. It’s a great introducing tool

Which is why you get yourself a client to connect to VATSIM :)

Definitely. When I took my first flying lesson, my flight instructor was surprised that I knew my bases and downwinds, glideslope and localizer, etc.

The biggest difference between the consumer simulators and professional sims is physical touch. In IF we can see our speeds and other data on the spot where as if I were to look at my airspeed I would not see outside for the few seconds.

IF is a stepping stone into aviation. Like I am more into aviation because of IF and without it I wouldn’t have been trying to make an RC plane. But it still a long way down the road before it can hit professional sim status.

He/she was talking about X-Plane Mobile. That doesn’t have proper live, just 2 person free-flight.
