Over the last few months since the introduction of AP+, I’ve increasingly came across occasions where players will sit idle at a stand for hours and days without any intention to fly.
Yes, yall would say I can just use another stand that is available. But what I was trying to do was mirror the gate selection that is used IRL. And no I’m not talking about busy airports, I would be okay to wait fot someone that is genuinely waiting to depart or just landed, I just can’t stand when people just refuse to end their flight proper and leave their aircraft parked at multiple stands across a single airport, or even across multiple aerodromes, with no end in sight.
I just don’t get the purpose of leaving their flight parked like that for so long and leaving less available parking for those who actually wants to simulate an entire flight from gate to gate in a realistic manner?
Even if it’s for testing purposes, 1) maybe try to reduce the number of flights left connected at one time in the server? Because seriously I still dont see a need for having so many flights linked to a single account left connected like hogging a seat at McDonald’s, and 2) at least park at some extremely remote apron instead of a contact gate where there are obviously more demand generally? Maybe someone here can enlighten me on how this practice is so acceptable in this game?
What’s been interesting is that the private alpha testing group for this feature/mode has been growing. But when the alpha group was smaller, there weren’t as many complaints about the parked planes.
As more alpha testers join said group, we see more parked planes and thus more mixed feelings about them.
That’s important, because when the feature/mode is released, the scale/volume of parked planes is going to increase significantly…unless there is some way that a user or VA’s fleet size is limited.
At this point, I’d imagine that the increasing negative feedback about the parked planes must’ve been noted internally already?
Thanks for the info. I’m not active here, but I’ve just searched it up to get a general idea.
It says a lot when I literally just ended a flight where my planned starting gate and destination were both occupied by two different users throughout my entire 10-hour flight.
At this point, I’m completely not looking forward to such a feature, especially if trusted testers are already abusing it and causing great inconvenience to myself and others. Much less rolling out to all other users, some of whom were already having trouble following basic rules and instructions on the Expert server.
Come on, realistically, no one parks their aircraft at a terminal contact gate for hours and days. The least they can do is tow or taxi their aircraft to a remote apron instead of leaving their entire fleet of inactive flights just sitting there. Suggest to start charging these users a parking fee $$$ if they continue hogging those gates as they do in real life.
personally i never had troubles with “fleets” aircrafts but i completely understand what you’re saying and i think ur right, having parked planes on gates is no way realistic and i think the only thing devs can do to reduce or eliminate that is to make “fleet” aircrafts able to park only on remote stands. that said i’m not in the alpha testing group so i don’t know how that works but i think devs really should spend time setting the “fleet” feature up to not cause more chaos than what we already have especially in larger airports.
