History of College Park Airport (US)

Introduction:Here is a little history of the famous College Park Airport. (KCGS) is located in the College
Park,Maryland,USA.This airport is currently the oldest airport still in operation it was established in 1909!!! It was used first used by Wilbur Wright

Events occurred:When Wilbur Wright arrived at the field to train two military officers in the US army the airport was initially going to be used as training grounds for Wilbur to train the officers to fly the FIRST GOVERNMENT PLANES,The FIRST airplane was a Wright Type A Biplane:


The plane was assembled on October 7 and would be one of the first aircraft to take flight to the skies in the WORLD!

Commercial servicing: Commercial flights started AS EARLY AS DECEMBER 1911 making this airport the oldest continuously operated airport.In 1977 there was a part added to the airport called the National Register of Historic Places.
