Hi, I’m a new user!

I am a new user of Infinite Flight and I am trying to learn the simulator. I have a concern regarding how to measure pitch when it is expressed in degrees, such as 10 degrees. What does this mean, and how can I use it to determine my climb rate?

Hey there - Welcome to the Community!

You can help determine your pitch using the HUD (Heads-Up Display) - see screenshot below from the User Guide:

Each horizontal bar represents 5 degrees (5°). So 10 degrees would be the second bar up/down, which you will notice is slightly longer for easier referencing.

Pitch does not entirely affect your climb rate. Climb rate also depends on a host of other factors, such as airspeed, engine thrust %, aircraft weight, etc…

I would recommend giving this tutorial a watch:

You will note that thrust settings are mentioned in this video - you can determine your takeoff and climb thrust settings using this website - which has been built using Infinite Flight data.

All you need to do is select your aircraft, input your weight % and voila, it gives you a takeoff thrust setting, which you would reduce by around 2-5% for climb, from there you simply pitch to maintain your set speed at that thrust setting.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Have a good day
