How to know which is the shortest transition

The minimum is 2500. You can round by adding the airport altitude to this.

Airport elevation: 1,000ft (eg)
Pattern altitude: 2,500ft (airport elevation + 1500ft)
Transition altitude: 3,500ft (pattern altitude + 1000ft)
sometimes the airport elevation is an uneven number, so round it upwards
And standard pattern altitude varies with the type of aircraft c:
