Can we/Will we have helicopter in the future? it would be really good to fly a Sikorsky helicopter

I wouldn’t be surprised if there are no immediate plans for helicopters, since from a physics perspective it’s a whole different ball game, but there are feature requests for some models - e.g. see below:

Have you tried flying a helicopter in XPlane Mobile?
But controlling a Helicopter using a device is much harder to do. Since planes have a Yoke which sorta replicates a Devices motion. Helicopters have more sensitive control surfaces, plus steering them is soo hard to do without training, it is very different from a Plane, so I don’t think Infinite Flight will prioritise this ever..

I am also waiting patiently for Heli’s in IF. maybe one day but who knows, doesnt look like we will get heli’s any time soon but we can dream still haha

I have. It’s not the most pleasant thing to fly. I kept crashing, oh well I guess that’s a skill issue

Laura mentioned a while back that she and the other devs would definitely like to add helicopters. The main hurdles, as already mentioned, is the different flight physics, but also the fact that there aren’t a lot of helicopter friendly landing spots in IF compared to real life. They would need to add a lot of helipads and that would mean a lot of work for IFAET to get that ready. And then there’s the problem of ground quality. Helicopters are super fun, but you remain close to the ground and right now that isn’t the most visually pleasing thing. Not that I think that should be a reason to not add them!

To be fair, most of landing sites for helicopters are just helipad on ground and nothing else, they won’t take much time. There are not much really big heliports all around the world with size of airport.

Real problem would be that there are some helipads located on top of the buildings and skyscrapers and we would need them and surrounding territory and buildings to be modelled.
