I think that a light heat haze coming out of aircraft engines would add a great amount of realism to Infinite Flight. This has already been implemented into PC systems like X-Plane 11 and adds a HUGE sense realism specially when taxiing and taking off.
Below Are Some Real Pictures Of Engine Heat Haze Coming Out Of Various Aircraft:
This is an image of heat haze implemented in Xplane-11 on a Boeing 737-800:
What Causes Heat Haze?
Heat haze is caused by refraction from the more dense, cooler air, to the less dense, hot air and the transfer of heat energy. Refraction is the bending of light, due to changes in substance density or, a materials, physical property. Similar to the way light shimmers in a pool, light passing through the fast hot air, gets bent and appears to move fluently. The transfer of heat (from the hot air to the cooler air) causes light to bend as well.
Why add Heat Haze?
At almost any point in time, heat can be seen coming out of a turbine or a jet engine. Adding this effect will dramatically increase the realism and will help portray the power and beauty behind the turbine engine. After all who wouldn’t want something like this in IF?
This would be nice to see added, especially if we get a new/reworked fighter. The heat haze produced by most fast jets is substantial, especially with afterburners on.
Totally agreed, and I think that along with this it would be nice to set an adjustable rendering scale for it, so if your phone is an older gen, it won’t freeze up.
Added multiple pictures to help people get a better idea of what it would look like, because it’s hard to get the full picture in you head with only one picture. All of the pictures are credited.
It’s a great idea, but some of you are forgetting the limitations of a mobile processor. It might seem like a simple implementation of some blur, but It would most likely cause some pretty noticeable lag on all but the newest device’s. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice request. But not something I see to be very feasible at this current time.
There are hundreds of ways to do this, and all of them can look good. Some of the ways are even efficient, so I’m not so sure if there will be an impact on fps😉🍻
