Have you ever had to divert?

Hello IFC! I am currently flying in the training server (ASA1038 if anyone is wondering) and I’d like to know if whilst flying in the live server, has anyone ever had to make an emergency landing or divert? Tell me your stories!

Never. I’ve had some close calls but no.

Once on my way in to LHR I had to stop at Berlin for a re-fuel from Dubai because I read the fuel wrong on fpl-if!

Never happened to me before! I make sure I have the right amount of fuel and such for a safe landing at my destination airport!

Yes, I had to before. Once, because of the unexpectedly bad fuel consumption of the A340-600, once because the airport I was arriving at, was at full capacity and not accepting incoming traffic.

Many times… too many times…

At risk of embarrassing myself here….is Dublin not farther from Dubai than London is?

Never had to divert but had a really close call while flying from Los Angeles to Dubai
Was years ago and I didn’t really plan for the fuel too much (just kinda looked at the estimated time and basically maxed out the fuel as far as it could go)
IIRC I had less than 10 minutes left in fuel when I landed
Luckily wasn’t busy or anything otherwise I almost 100% would have had to divert

Only once on a Heathrow - Geneva flight in a Swiss A220. The controller at Geneva was having a TERRIBLE day as the airport got 100’s of inbounds. ATC began dishing out “unable” commands, was running low on fuel as the short hop didnt call for much of it. Diverted to Zurich.

I was flying JFK-YYZ and there was horrible weather in Toronto so I diverted to Albany. The problem was that Albany had terrible weather too but I was starting to run out of fuel and then crashed on landing :( also on top of that I accidentally shut down engine 2 on short final so yeah

Yeah it is… maybe he did a circling arrival? I don’t even have an explanation for that lol

It is, since London is lower England and Dublin is kinda upper/mid Ireland

Had to divert after being turned down by ATC at TFFF when they first rolled the 3D airport out. Was in the TBM 930 too so fuel was getting tight and made the circle back to Miami for cheaper gas

Yes, I once tried to do a long haul with the 744 and only added about 2 hours of extra fuel. Was 40 minutes short, had to divert to KDEN on my way from EHAM to KLAX.

This one time I was flying through New Zealand in a Cessna 208 when an error appeared in the server. Everyone’s engines cut. I had to glide down to the only runway close enough. Unfortunately I overshot the runway due to it’s short length…

Yep! Did Newark to Las Vegas and had to divert to Chicago Rockford for fuel

It is. The distance from DXB to LHR is 5498 km, while a flight to Dublin is over 400 km longer at 5918 km. Diverting to FRA or AMS is much more logical than diverting to DUB, as the former two are large airports that are actually along the flight path from Dubai to Heathrow.

Once going JFK to Seoul in a 747-8 had to divert to Anchorage and refuel
