Happy birthday to the mother of Miami!

Today 176 years ago in Cleveland, OH, the late Julia Tuttle was born. She came to southern Florida after her father had moved here and lived on his land until he died when she took over the land. After that she sold here house back in Ohio and relocated to Biscayne Bay. She later took on a movement to start a new city on the Miami River and to help development, she got railroad tycoon Henry Flager to extend his railroad, the Florida East Coast Railroad (FEC) down to Fort Dallas and the city grew on from there and Julia earned the title of the only to be the founder of a major American city and even in 2025, Miami is THRIVING with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

So, thank you and happy birthday Julia and Henry for building this awesome city, love you Vice City ❤️

Miami Beach and Biscayne Bay, where she lived in the distance and carrying I-195 and FL-112 across the bay from the beach to downtown and eventually the airport is a causeway named after our mother, the Julia Tuttle Causeway
