Today I was flying with a 737 MAX and I had a problem with my GPS. It was a time for me to descend and I just didn’t , when I realized and engaged the VNAV I was too high for the altitude to the next fix and the plane started descending spiral. I disengaged the AP and put the plane manually on the right altitude and direction but when I tried to engage the AP once again the plane started the spiral again. What is this about?
Do you have a recording or images of the issue? Also this should probably go in support along with your device and operating system
Hey there! Welcome to the Community!
It would be useful to share the replay where this occurred - you can share it here using this tool:
Unfortunately no. When it happened I was close to the final and I just disengaged the AP and took the plane manually to the rwy. I didn’t think bout recording or taking pictures, but I’ll do it next time🫡
I see. This happened because the autopilot (AP) was following your flight plan (FPL). When you were flying manually, you likely deviated from the current FPL track. As a result, the aircraft went off course, as indicated by the magenta line on the map.
When you re-engaged the AP, it attempted to return to the original track, causing the aircraft to turn back toward the magenta line.
To avoid this, you need to manually press “ACT LEG” to activate your current position as the new active leg. This will update your FPL track so the aircraft continues from your current location instead of making a sharp turn to rejoin the previous track.
I hope this explanation is clear, and hope someone can help explain it in a simpler way if needed.
you can always open your logbook via the home screen and view a replay, either export it from there or screen record
